most probably using phone.. i may be wrong but i think that guy only applied his brakes when he is super near the rider already..

whats more, he didn't even swerve around the rider! just went straight on.. [sweatdrop]

I realized many such things happening in singapore, so i suggest a reduce in road speed limit :D

Haha... Sadly these people think the rules don't apply to them or they wouldn't get into trouble in the first place.

But at least it will get them off the roads faster. I think its still quite hard to accumulate enough demerit points to get the license suspended. If the speed limits are lowered then the points can be accumulated much quicker.

Yes, perhaps we should lower them to the point where using cell phones while driving is completely safe. Say 5km/h? [rolleyes]

dont be surprise how much damage can 5km/hr do when one is not even braking!

This particular driver should be banned from driving till kingdom come! Any news on the condition of the cyclist uncle?

I was being facetious. Honestly, I get really fed up when people propose to further lower our already ridiculously-low speed limits. Of course, I'm assuming Nzy wasn't being ironic.

its the driver and what he is doing, lower the speed will not help. at 5km/hr he will still run the old man down if he is not concentrating on the road.

at 5km/hr even a 4-5 year old kid cycling is faster than that....

The motorcyclist didn't even know what hit him. That is a serious impact! Hopefully the motorcyclist is not injured too seriously

Yups, think the impact was quite great.

Didn't see any newspaper report on this accident.

Anyone got any updates?

Obviously the driver was driving too fast and he wasn't paying attention on the road. That's why he couldn't stop in time. Fast speed and slow reaction are prone to accidents.
