Don't want to rely on google translate in case I misunderstand you.

Usually said in those swordmen movie. When a swordman sees injustice, even though he is just a passerby, he will draw sword and help the victims. When the bad guy ask him why he is so busybody, he will answer it with these words.

I'm sorry but that doesn't compute. I don't think the police will be at the beck and call of the HEB unless there is a real altercation going on.

And remember - from eyewitness accounts - there were *already* plains clothes police officers in place at the time of the incident. Doesn't seem like they had to be "called in", does it?

Do you think it's more likely that Hindu religious leaders asked for the ban (and SPF help in enforcing it), or that HEB was pressured into making it seem like they had "voluntarily" put the restriction in place? I know which scenario seems plausible, given that HEB is a stat board and that people are so afraid to place a toe out of line when an order comes down the chain of command here.

Anyway, I concede I have no actual knowledge of anything that may or may not have gone on "behind the scenes". Suffice it to say that there are resentful people out there who don't feel the HEB or the gahmen is really representing their rights to free religious expression.

BTW, Shanmugam's argument, while seemingly reasonable, is logically untenable when you dissect it. It's not sensible to say that one right was suspended while another right (ostensibly given to no one else) was accorded. One doesn't make up for the other.

i also have no actual knowledge.. But read somewhere there's already some altercation, and that's why the temple organise called in the police. But for such public events with some clashed in history, it's not surprising to have plain cloth policeman on the ground.

i agree with you on the simple fact is why can't they have music, it is part and parcel of the festive. If one day they ban drum on lion dance, i believe hell will break loose.

everyone just have to play a part and the temple can deploy more volunteer (together with SPF) to man the procession in an orderly way (you can deal with the hardcore case using force if necessary), i believe other race and tourists would like to see how colorful the festive/culture could be.

I am still wondering when they begin to stop the music as i enjoy watching this since primary school where our school was near Sri Thendayuthapani Temple.

AGC warns against public or online comments on Thaipusam incident

SINGAPORE: In the wake of the arrest of three Singaporeans for various offences allegedly committed during a Thaipusam procession on Feb 3, the Attorney-General's Chambers on Wednesday (Feb 11) issued a reminder warning against public comments, including on the Internet, as such statements may be sub judice contempt of court.

The accused face various charges, ranging from disorderly conduct to voluntarily causing hurt to a police officer. The three - Ramachandra Chandramohan, 32, Jaya Kumar Krishnasamy, 28, and Gunasegaran Rajendran, 33 - are out on bail and will appear in court again on Mar 6.

Said the AGC in a press release on Wednesday: "As criminal proceedings are currently before the Courts, we would like to remind the public that statements made may be sub judice contempt of court, if the statements are calculated to affect the judicial process and there is a real risk of prejudice being caused to the ongoing proceedings."

Under sub judice laws, commenting on a case being considered by the court may be considered interference with due process.

"All parties are advised to refrain from making any public comments, or posting any statements on the Internet on these matters which may have that effect, pending final determination of the legal proceedings by the Courts," the AGC added.

"The Attorney-General’s Chambers takes a serious view of statements made which are calculated to interfere with the integrity of the administration of justice. Anyone who has information on the case should send it to the Police."
