I feel sad as a Singaporean. This is not a marathon runner. This is a marathon RUINER.....

I remember my very first marathon in Adelaide. I was invited to take the bus to the finish with no penalty to my t shirt and medal. [blush] . I refused because I wanted to finish the race like a true marathoner [angel][angel]

I was dead last at 6 hrs 14 minutes (I can still remember). The second last runner took about 5 hours. So at the finish line there was the organiser, photographer and two other Singaporeans who waited for me (I did not know them prior to the race).

But I still remembered, that even when I was last, I must not cheat.

By the way, apparently this was so memorable that it came out in the race report for that year....... :o

why blame him? I believe it a honest mistake that he only wants to take the shirt and the medal.

Blame the organiser and those "kua chui" marshaller why didnt notice people take short-cut?

Somemore those buay-song (dis-qualify) runners in order to clear their name, have to pay S$50 for investigation.

apparently they wanted to. But they felt that I could still run and they did not want to be so bad so they let me finish....

IIRC, they wrote in the race report

"I wanted to leave but I was afraid of reading tomorrow's newspaper which will write as headlines 'Singaporean man dies outside Adelaide zoo while running the Adelaide marathon'. Couple this with the fact that he could still run and that there were other Singaporeans waiting for him, I made the decision to wait....."

That was many years ago............. [grin]

Good job finishing anyway! [thumbsup] Takes a lot of determination to finish. So far I only join 10Ks, lol.

No lah...

should send the marathon secret police to his house to repossess the finishers tee.

Or if god was just, he would get struck by lightening when he goes out wearing it.

I think they should stop giving out finisher tee-shirt. Just the medal will do.. Most of these cheaters just want to wear the finisher tees outside.

He is a CHEAT.

A very stupid one [smash]

And got his face splashed onto the front page.

A man with no integrity.

I highly suspect he also take short cuts when preparing food.

That's ok - he probably also take shortcut when pang sai or pee...

like never wipe or never aim

So we probably don't have anything to worry about.

Hmmm....

Another thought - I work with a t-shirt printer....perhaps I should print up a finishers tee and take start taking orders...

Yes. If I had been kicked out after the first marathon maybe I would not have done so.

A total of nine full marathons.

First marathon was in Adelaide Australia, 2001

Furthest marathon was in Clearwater, Tampa, USA, 2002

Last marathon was Sundown marathon 2012

Half marathons I lost count.

Dun say NPNT. [sunny]

But I dun run anymore. Now fat [sweatdrop]

The two small medals on the right are my army medals. I MR already so [grin]

i will tell you why. It is because they are competing against others or themselves. Hence, the strain. If you look carefully at stats, people who die or collapse during a marathon are usually fit. The slow ones, or the walking detail, are the ones there for t shirt, medals so on usually dun collapse. That is why majority of casualties in a race like this occur within the first few hours.
