Sdexxxxd 2nd Gear November 30, 2013 Share November 30, 2013 I am needing to use a GPS unit now in USA, and I am thinking of getting a unit that could be used when going back to SG. Saw a unit, Nuvi2595, but preload with USA map only. Since you there, it more straight forward to ask the shop issit ?But normally gps are international friendly just load the map of the country you want will work already. Otherwise you can load msm map which create by the garmin user which is free update.
Nicholas 5th Gear November 30, 2013 Share November 30, 2013 Of course can. If you have doubts, you can go malfreemaps.com, register and download a free Singapore/Malaysia map to test. Use simulation mode to test routing.
Pisces69 6th Gear December 1, 2013 Share December 1, 2013 I think sud b no problem. U just need to download the SG/Msia maps when u r in SG. U might hv to remove the USA maps cos the memory might not n enough to load all the maps. Just make sure yr GPS is tracking US satellites n not those from Russia, France or China. I thought GLONASS (Russian) is better? That's why high end smartphones come with both GPS and GLONASS.

USA has the most comprehensive collection of satellites. If u track Russia, then not many up yet so many countries u cannot get a good fix. Plus Russian satellites might lead u into the sea or river while u driving cos their military use them n its for their boats n submarines also. plus halfway all yr street names, voice nav, etc all become in Russian. Hahaha. ↡ Advertisement
