my card balance think still left about $10 bucks, where to claim ah?

the story of borders's winding-up tells us that among all the creditors, those who have values stored in the cards rank behind many other creditors, especially those which have a fixed or floating charge over the company's assets.

unfortunately, your chances don't look good :(

Yeah... Some Chinese food cannot be made halal. Chicken Char Siew? I'll rather have those real malay halal stuff, gado gado, nasi padang etc....

Ranks pari-pasu la (after the standard wages, taxes, etc).

I got back my borders card value (in full) after months. The company didn't have the full sum so the owner (some Australian company IIRC) pumped more money in to reimburse card holders.

What we hate about foodcourts:

As consumers:

1. Need to buy their house brand store value card in order to enjoy discount.

2. Average food at expensive price.

As stall operators:

1. Need to pay exhorbitant deposit and rents upfront. On top of this, the "management" takes a cut on your total earnings.

2. Must surrender daily earnings back to "management".

3. Must buy ingredients, order approved crockeries from the "management".

4. Work 24/7 365 and need to pay heavy penalty for not opening.

5. You wonder if you are the boss or employee or worse...... slave.

Any more?

I guess that Banquet went for the wrong target audience.

I have never gone into one before. The signboard shouts to me "FOR MALAYS".

So as a Chinese, I wont go in unless my options are really limited.

For Malays, my observation is that they like hawker centres and fast food outlets.

Food courts are not high up their list.

the fish soup at jurong point nice....guess its gone....

sooner or later a lot of the hawkers will be gone too due to high rental....haiz...

It's a matter of time before it's a necessity for all of us to learn how to prepare our own food for 3 meals. HDB need to relook into current small kitchen.

Won't be surprise if each basic and cheapest meal costs $20-30 like those in Scandinavian countries.
