i'm not refering to spore tiny red dot market

europe, usa, canada, china already flooded with bmw/merc/audi/vw turbo car

by the time honda push their turbo engine to the market ... conti maker already move on to next level

No it is not late. Japanese culture will ensure engine has been fully tested. Then& they will introduce to the market. Until today, Toyota and Honda car engine are the most reliable in the world.
Lastly, America and China market are biggest car market in the world. What is happening in Singapore do not reflect other part of the world.

Really! Check Motor Trend. Which is the best selling car in America? It is Camry. Follow by Cruz and Accord. Camry monthly sales is nearly 25,000 units. Our COE available is nearly 30,000 per year.

I just came back from America a few months ago! There are so many different Japanese models on the road. For example, Acura NSX.

ok. this one i agree. camry is no 1 sales in usa.

the american loves camry.

i still stand with my point that the japanese had a late start in making turbo engine "mass market" for their product range

wonder how it feels when the max torque+TURBO+VTEC kicks in at the same time. [bounce1][sly]

In 2015, new Civic Type R will be unleashed for sale. Powered by a 2.0 liter VTEC with Turbo generating torque of approximately 400 Nm. How is it going to feel like? There is still 2 more years to go before anyone can get to feel one. [grin] Edited by Razer_Blaze

Hyundai-KIA has already had a 2.0 liter 274hp powerplant years ago, so yes Honda is late.

The 1.0 3ple very songz

Perfect for the Fit 2020 model ( I imagining....) No need DTEC liao....hahah...

Though late but if they can pull it off w/o the issues that the Conti's are facing under Singky's HHSSCC conditions, its still an engineering feat.

Interesting thread. I had a Evo X - main thing is the engine note is soulless(grass cutter sound…) due to turbo, no connection with the car.. I never tried a Civic type R but the engine note I heard is fantastic? Interesting to see how the new turbo hondas will sound/feel like.

Turbo 4 usually sounds flatter. Type R sounds great due to the wailing 4 effect to 8k Rpm. Just like an inline 4 bike. the pitch rises.....

For cars to have the wailing sound, another would be the old inline 6 GTR.

I do like the ultra woofer zorst note of Evo 8/9 with HKS, silent power. No wailing but the bass is awesome...

The 1 litre just nice for our new Cat A 129hp and being 1 litre save road tax as well.

I typical Singaporean mentality!!

No choice, high cost of living paired with suppressed wages.

Hope these Turbo series would be paired with 5/6 AT.

The 1 litre = 200nm of torque.

Likely the threshold if its a CVT will be 250nm. And looking at those cars with 200nm torque & CVT boomz, replacement is like 5 figure.!!!

How many Honda models in the past 25 years have been rwd? Two.

I don't think Honda is going rwd for regular production models anytime soon.

Umm it says so in the article posted.

Ur right. From the article in MCF "The Civic Type R will be the first model in Europe to have one of Honda’s all new VTEC TURBO engines from Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology range. This 2.0-litre, direct injection, four-cylinder turbo engine is expected to have class-leading output in excess of 300bhp and will be EURO 6 compliant. It is also believed to produce more than 400Nm of torque through its front wheels."

But it did say 19 inches & brembos are a must. So to avoid torque steer = > 275 section 19 inch wheels?

Gonna be like dog sledding.. All the power at the front..

These TC engines, makes the new offerings of 2014 look like interim models from Honda pending major makeover 2020.

Reg Honda finally abandoning their rule of NA, could also be due to F1. In the past, TC is not allowed. (cheating?) But now that new F1 rules = 1.5 litre V6 with TC allowed ( but at required boost limit set for all teams ), the mind set has change.

Also Honda developed their new F1 engine to co with Mc Laren. Since F1 is supposedly the pinnacle of car technology & it now endorses TC with small engines, it makes sense for Honda to follow suit for their production models.
