Ian Ayre travelled to Barcelona recently. Talk is that he was there trying to discuss a deal for Tello. Not much details on the outcome.

Apology. It wasn't Tello Ayre was there for but Montoya. He will be a free agent in summer but Ayre want to discuss a fee to sign him in Jan. Heard that he had withdrew further contract talk with Barcelona.

LFC have opened talks with Barcelona over the possible transfer of the defender Martín Montoya in January. (Guardian) http://t.co/RAmhT0VYfe

Guardian reporting this as well.

same as how poo wants to sell suarez for 50m mah. Everyone wants the best deal for themselves

That was pre Bale day. Now we want £100m. Lol Edited by Osprey23

Regardless whether it is his intention, Borini can't move back to Italy in Jan. He has appeared for Liverpool (u21) and Sunderland. There is apparently a rule that states a player cannot appear for more than 2 clubs in a single season.

Update on Pool's transfer movements.

Personal terms with M'Vila agreed. Now is just to agree fee with Ruben.

Montoya could arrive in Jan for free. Reina going over for free in Jul. Straight swap.

Borini asking for loan at Sunderland be terminated and be allowed to speak to Lazio. Apparently his appearance for Pool u21 is not considered as an official appearance

Reina's contract is up to 2016. Are we at the losing end here ? Despite slight drop of form, he is still an International Class keeper

At Lucas' expense ? hmmmmm

I'm concerned that BR has bought and will buy players w/o playing them ............. That's 35M. This is not including the 25M he used for JA & Borini

Iago Aspas – £7m – Celta Vigo

Luis Alberto£6.8m – Sevilla

Mamadou Sakho – £15m – PSG

Tiago Ilori – £7m – Sporting Lisbon

Reina by right should already be at Barcelona. Valdes uturn caused the delay. Last summer he already told club he is leaving and that's why BR went on to sign up Mignolet.

In this sense, it is more of a win win I feel. Montoya is only 22 yo and with potential. We need a long term replacement for GJ anyway. Signing him up in Jan will also avoid a scramble for his signature as a free agent.

M'Vila is a different kind of DM from Lucas. In fact, he is not signed to replace Lucas. With M'Vila, BR will be able to play with a single anchor and push two midfielders up.

The new signings in the summer, some are for first team, some are for squad depth and some for the future. I am not overly concerned. JA still have future here. Borini BR still rates him but I am unsure if he has the strong desire to fight for his Anfiels career.

right now reading this make me feel gutted,.........pool is so unmotivated and, never mind [:|]

Forget the Hull defeat bro. It's a tactical error and BR acknowledged that. Let's move on to Norwich.

It just shows that BR is right to say that we need 2-3 more windows to get the squad to challenge.

Top 4 is the target this season. We are never a title contender.

i could not agree more. Rogers has to take responsibility for the tactical screw up and sad to say, we are still missing effective wingers after all this while.

What ever happened to our three at the back tactics?? Seems not utilizing it after the Ars defeat.... [hur]

Sell GJ, he is the worst player on the pitch that day... [thumbsdown]

BR tried out 3-4-1-2 to accommodate Suarez and Sturridge. He is trying to use the formation to suit the attacking players and also give more slots for the CBs. However, 2 CBs and 3 CBs systems works differently and most of our CBs, barring Toure, do not adjust well. Personally, I feel we should stick to back 4. Don't tinkle too much there as the back line needs a lot of understanding between them to function as an unit.

I foresee us reverting to 4-2-3-1 for now with Sturridge out. For that to work, we really need the 3 to support Suarez effectively and exploit the space when he drop back.

As mentioned, Jan window Pool are targeting 3 positions, DM, LW and Full back. Hopefully can get our targets.

Inter is in pole position for Montoya if he sees out his contract. Pool is trying to sign him up in Jan.

BR: "With Daniel Agger, I just felt we have struggled at times against big physical opponents."

Not sure why BR said that but rumour I heard is the two had a huge fall out and Agger probably will be off in summer.
