To the teksi lao :

If you're sleepy or can't see, please find another job or retire ....... By doing so, you are posing risks to commuters n as well as the residence at the condo. Lucky there wasn't any young kids swimming at the pool due to the weather or else you will regret n feel guilty

It is every Condo management duties in Singapore to ensure that all safety aspects had to be taken care off.....

2 years ago already happen and all condo management should have look into their own security & safety issue and this shouldn't had happen. Do those condo managements need a life to be lost only then they look into this safety matters... [furious]

It doesn't cost much to install those flexi bollards by condo management then against one life lost to a family ... [:(]

This kinda thing cost $$$. Why would they want to compromise their profit takings?

Drivers who have poor eyesight at night or due to old age should invest in a good pair of glasses. That will do everyone a good favour.

I mean between the two which will costs more?

The 1 meter high bollard cost $238/- each and intall 2 enough for less the $500/-. just to block the entrance

or they rather spend on their year end retreat... [lipsrsealed]

Now it was a taxi, next could by the guest of of condo resident ... [sweatdrop]

Same incident happened in 2004.

The Straits Times: Oops! Taxi is in the pool

A citycab driver who went to a condominium to pick up two passengers last night inadvertently drove his cab into its swimming pool.

It was raining heavily and cabby Ling Hong Lim, 55, told The Sunday Times: 'I knew it was a pool only when the car went in.' The pool was about 50m from the gates of Kentish Lodge, not far from KK Women's and Children's Hospital.

As his yellow cab sank bonnet first into the 1.2m-deep pool, he crawled into the backseat and got the door open. 'I thought I was going to drown,' he said.

Mr Ling, who hasbeen driving a cab for over a year, said he'd been going at 20-30kmh. 'In the pool, I wanted to break the windows, but couldn't. I tried to wave at the couple waiting for me, but they just stood there.'

Residents would not let a vehicle recovery machine drag out the cab, as it would have damaged the pool.

'We won't allow it, unless CityCab compensates us,' said Mr Patrick Foo, a resident of the 75-unit, five-year-old condo in Oxford Road. At press time, the cab company and the condominium management were working out a way to get the taxi out of the pool.

The cab has finally been lifted outbut only after it spent another nightin the pool.

It took less than 10 minutes to hoist the now infamous CityCab taxi out of a condominium swimming pool, but it is going to take much longer to sort out the paperwork.

It took a heavy construction crane, high-strength cables and lots of care to get the taxi out of the pool.

Think for Drivers over 65 have compulsory annual eyesight test.

Oh since it happened late at night, understand some driver have "tie ups" with hostesses. They ferry to & fro work in return for......

Maybe it was those few seconds..... plus poor visibilility..... So when the pool os closed after 10pm, follow the rules.
