I went to a few workshop to asked, they told me cannot service, must change whole set I spray a bit of lube spray (not WD40 hor) at the top n bottom pivot points to lube it every year. So far its very smooth n no problem. Try some RP 7 lube spray first n do it every few days n see if it recovers to normal. If not then just leave it fully open all the time. Rustyz 5th Gear November 6, 2013 Share November 6, 2013 What brand lube u use , won't it stain the car paint?
Pisces69 6th Gear November 6, 2013 Share November 6, 2013 What brand lube u use , won't it stain the car paint? For lube spray, I use Selleys RP7. Its a real lube spray. U can use any good quality lube or even grease if u can get it into the tiny space. WD 40 is a penetrateing fluid to free rusty parts n wil eat into the metal after some time. When I was at an aerospace company, WD 40 was banned n anybody caught using it at work wil b sacked immediately. So far RP 7 has not stained the paint. After a carwash, u cant see it anymore but its inside lubricating the part.

Pisces69 6th Gear November 6, 2013 Share November 6, 2013 (edited) So serious WD40( i thought it is made with fish oil Never mind cover it with plastic bag and save the washing. I think WD40 was mostly kerosene last time. Even the smell like kerosene. But now I find it is different. A bit thicker n smell different. Maybe ty changed the formulation after ty got complaints/feedback? But penetrating n lubricating fluid r different n hv different uses. Fact: Consumers have told us over the years that they have caught some of the biggest fish ever after protecting their fish hooks and lures with WD-40. We believe this legend came from folks assuming that the product must contain fish oil since it appears to attract fish. Sorry Charlie®, it just ain’t so. WD-40 Company has taken steps to respect and conserve the environment, and encourages its users to do the same. While WD-40 can be used to help protect fishing equipment from rust and corrosion, WD-40 Company does not recommend using WD-40 to attract fish. haha

Ivanpaseo 2nd Gear November 7, 2013 Share November 7, 2013 (edited) its serviceable. Just that you need time to open up to reach the internal. One of my gear inside my side mirror cracked, a worm gear attached to the motor replace it and work like a charm. If you want to grease plastic or rubber parts, please use die electric grease/ Silicon grease as it will not eat away rubber and plastic like multi purpose grease or lithium grease.
