Metal roof can be of single sheet and sits on metal trusses. Pitch also can be smaller. 

They have overcome noise and heat. Asthectic part I have yet to see something as pleasing as tile roof. Maybe color or profile can help? 

Just to add, if rebuild, a flat concrete roof top with trellis to shade off the direct sun would be ideal. You are rest assured and easy to maintain any leak issues. 

you ended up with a metal roof. for someone who has climbed up and DIY repaired a tile roof. i urge you to go with metal roof. almost leak proof. forget those tiles. will surely leak at the joints.

i rather a purposeful roof than one that looks nice but forever chasing leaks.

Yeah that is my plan for my next change. It is becoming a trend with new buildings.

Are light fixtures and appliances from JB reliable? Looking for cheaper lights for reno to cut costs. See it in a few articles online mentioning places like Yako and Tampoi but never try buy before. Seems a lot cheaper than SG but transporting it back seems like it might be a bit of a hassle - I dont have a car now so stowing it in the boot is not an option. Does anyone know if these places provide transporting of the lights back to SG + installation?

Why don't you message the shops directly on FB or what not and ask if they ship over. 

There's nothing wrong with buying light fixtures there. Their lights are all from china anyway. 

But with online shopping, LED downlights are definitely no point going there. You can even get safety mark downlights for pretty reasonable prices here.

@Lala81 Thanks for the tips. Wanted to see if anyone had experience with trying before since sometimes you only really know if something is good until you try. But none of my relatives dare to buy from JB so looking for more opinions...

I had some non led lights from tampoi and philips original light from jb for my old place. 

There are really a lot of Singaporeans who bought lights from there before bah. Tens of thousands BTO flats over the last two decades have lights bought there.
