WTF, do u mean no injury, bo dai ji? do u wait for a live lost before taking action?

Police can't act unless a report was made. Once a report made, they have the power to investigate.

Just like assault cases. The one that got assaulted will have to make a Magistrate Report at Sub-court and handed over the report to the police to investigate.

So from the video evidents, the most they investigate for Rash Act. [flowerface]

Unless one of the drivers make a report to TP... [sly]

It's not about injury, it's about evidence or witness.

People lament why both drivers still so gungho even in the presence of polis.

My question is.....whats the diff? Are they expecting polis to do something about it?

Wait long long.....I say.

most well said!!! +10,000 points!!!

In some other countries, the rich can 'legally' kill the poor. I hope Singapore will not become like this in the near future. Lesson learnt from this episode, do not signal and expect others to let you into their lane. Even if the SUV accelerate to close up the gap, technically he is not wrong. Morally he is very wrong, probably not fit to exist on the planet at all. When I signal, I make sure I definitely will get into the lane I wanted. Even if the vehicle wanted to close up the gap, I will make sure 100% of my car in into the lane. However, if he cannot brake in time, he will surely bang into my boot. Just make things simple, claim his insurance and wait for insurance company verdict.

When I was a new driver, when I signal right, all the cars on the right become faster. When I signal left, all the cars on my left close up the gap too. Soon I realized I need to depend on myself rather than waiting for some rare kind soul to give way to me.

swometimes i want to overtake lowlee then i signal right

then the car on middle lane some will go very fast and let me pass after them (those type i like the most)

some will not move fast, then when i go into middle lane, suddenly that guy very fast [crazy]

When you watch that reality show "Cops" on tv, it shows the polis in those countries a lot more proactive. If they see something suspicious, they don't act blur - they really go and investigate. Not sure if that because they wayang to the video camera. But it looks quite realistic.

However, the impression I get of Singapore polis is : "Not my business unless someone make polis report, or die, or is an opposition member".

In real life, in Australia I have seen police who stop suspicious looking people and ask them questions. I have seen them chase people and arrest them. I actually have seen them a lot more on the ball than the police in Singapore. Why ah?

I am now looking forward for Singapore to shoot the other side of a reality show "SGCops" on tv, showing the current, unedited state of daily affairs of our home team..bring back the glory days of them napping in MSCP, pls..

Isn't this inconsiderate n careless driving?

Do we still need third party report ? Shouldn't these 2 jokers be arrested on the spot?

sometimes when permit & lane is clear, I will just filtered to right (overtaking) lane temporarily so that the drivers no need to wait for me to go fast & pass after me..

Just watched NGC's Situation Critical's North Hollywood shootout on SH last night and what you have mentioned about cops investigating when they see something suspicious did happen in Feb 28, 1997.....& with extremely dire consequences for the baddies and serious injuries inflicted upon both cops and civilians.

FYI nearly 2,000 rounds of ammo were fired in less than an hour primarily between two bank robbers with automatic weapons and LAPD's cops armed with only puny Beretta 9mms, S&W .38 revolvers & 1 shotgun.

sounds like the movie "Heat" with De Niro, Pacino and Val Kilmer.

That was sure the most exciting bank heist shootout I've seen from hollywood.

extracted from the wiki article:

29th of October 1993, Phillips and Mătăsăreanu were arrested in Glendale, northeast of Los Angeles, California, for speeding.[8] A subsequent search of their vehicle—after Phillips surrendered with a concealed weapon—found two semi-automatic rifles, two handguns, more than 1,600 rounds of 7.62×39mm rifle ammunition, 1,200 rounds of 9×19mm Parabellum and .45 ACP handgun ammunition, radio scanners, smoke bombs, improvised explosive devices, body armor vests, and three different California licence plates.[9] Initially charged with conspiracy to commit robbery,[10] both served one hundred days in jail and were placed on three years' probation.[11] After their release, most of their seized property was returned to them.[12]

Only in 'Murica... after release they get back their arsenal... [shakehead][shakehead][shakehead]

That was the show the two outlaws apparently watched before the robbery.

When the cops went to their apartment afterwards, they found that movie tape inside the VCR.... [sweatdrop]

Police don't act just because of the video cos the video was not capture by police official camera. The court will throw out the case (those lawyers will know what I am saying).

Unless the person who does the recording willing to come forward and become prosecution witness and statement recorded, then police got power to investigate base on the report or statement recorded.... [sly]

Like that everybodies just send video to TP on road offences but refuse to become witness, police will become 'chin boh eng' knowning that when go to court, the case will be thrown out ... [sweatdrop][sweatdrop]

One lorry driver was charged last month when colliding with a scooter along PIE with a video captured by another vehicle. So how police investigate the case, the victim who was injured lodge a accident report and armed with the video evident, charged the driver in court.

So if this 2 drivers never file a police report but only insurance claim reports, TP can't act unless AG said go ahead...... [flowerface]

I think matas will only take action if there are injuries sustained for the Altis-Lexus SUV case.

But likely only bruised egos so unlikely...

Correct, if got injuries, both parties have to make NP 168, 'Traffic Accident Report' and armed with the report and video ..... [sly][sly]

Bec this is Uniquely Singapore... Polis used for other purposes , not for upholding law and order... LIke catch SDP protestors or get fine $$$.... nowadays, hardly see police on the beat... last time they still walk along the streets, then go onto bicycle, now all patrol in squad car, never seen on the streets anymore... how can they say this is efficient when they are not effective in preventing crime thru visibility?

One thing that you have to be very aware of driving in New Zealand - you never know what's around the next corner.

The roads are a bit different to here - for city streets to have a raised median with a fence is very rare.

We don't have many highways (proportionally speaking)

And when you get out of the city, it is mostly one lane in each direction with just a white line separating. that makes you drive very different to how you can here. You never know when you might meet someone cutting the corner a little in the opposite direction, someone stopped to take a photo or change a tyre or some other hazard.

Things that I don't worry about as much here - on surface / city streets I see the speed of cars here as MUCH higher than I ever did back home - eg: Tamines Road from KPE towards Hougang Avenue 3 - even if I'm doing 80, a lot of people will still overtake me.

I was driving on the highway from Toronto to Montreal at 110km/h on the right most lane and practically everyone overtook me.
