Baal Supersonic January 16, 2014 Share January 16, 2014 Most likely yes since alts buyer are mostly uncle...hehehe.. Depends also, uncle may also mean prefer the traditional feel of gears. During 06-09, while Civic 1.8 were like hot cakes, 1.8 Altis which was CVT like bo seng lee. ↡ Advertisement

Kangadrool Supersonic January 16, 2014 Share January 16, 2014 Looks like Sylphy is the choice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMop8DluC2g
13177 Hypersonic January 17, 2014 Share January 17, 2014 (edited) In terms of the overall design, exterior and interior, i would pick Sylphy. Edited January 17, 2014 by 13177
Mcfguy 1st Gear January 19, 2014 Share January 19, 2014 both Sylphy and Altis quite comparable but the Sylphy is priced so much lower than Atlis.
Baal Supersonic January 19, 2014 Share January 19, 2014 Agree. Syl is >15k more eco. Similar power figures & both CVT. Syl now looks sooooooooooooooo much better than the previous model.
Ladykillerz 4th Gear January 19, 2014 Share January 19, 2014 Toyota has finally come with their B&B model, something which look futuristic.
Alheych 6th Gear January 19, 2014 Share January 19, 2014 saw this photo on paultan.org... the previous altis immediately looks dated. the last time i remember a new model being able to do that was when the F10 replaced the E60... the E60 looked fresh until the moment a F10 came next to it. Camrysfa Turbocharged January 19, 2014 Share January 19, 2014 any news on the number of orders that BM have taken on this altis? if the orders are high, the selling price will go up, as securing COE means need more $$$. for year 2013, Toyota climbed to 3rd spot in sales. For every Merc sold, it was almost matched by a Toyota: 3506 Merc Vs 3037 Toyota. again, the question nobody seems to be able to provide an answer - how many altis were sold. The usual response is - Lexus sales made up the bulk.

Camrysfa Turbocharged January 19, 2014 Share January 19, 2014 Heard that they got 200+ orders during preorder. if 200+ orders, can say new Altis sales is good? Doing better than Sylphy? Because total Nissan 2013 sales was just 500+
Baal Supersonic January 19, 2014 Share January 19, 2014 Any if the new altis engine is a re tuned engine of auris to meet cat a? If so could mean that other brands...models could do the same. I support idea of retuning engines in favor of torque like the honda freed. Down 3hp....plus 5nm....on that same 1.5 engine. More relevant for driving in sin for the maj of drivers here. Because total Nissan 2013 sales was just 500+ I guess the new Altis has the advantage of being the new kid on the block while the Sylphy has being around for at least a year (maybe more?) already. Still, very seldom do I see one on the road. Tan Chong is just not selling it fast enough or maybe it just does not win hearts.

Last year, I test drove the 2013 Sylphy and 2013 Altis ........... the SE conceded without prompting that the Sylphy has lower power. On the issue of lagging feel of CVT, he said it is a matter of getting used to it. Loss of Civic, Elantra, Sylphy sales probably seduced by VW. As for Sylphy sell well or not, a bit not fair to syphy having to compared with a best selling model. Edited January 19, 2014 by 13177

If the 2014 Altis continues with the fuss-free character of the past, it may contd to do well in 2014 sales. Who knows, maybe the new Kia K3 will spring some surprise in the market share.
