Mineral oil? If the engine come with synthetic oil from factory, putting mineral oil won't make much difference. I m saying this because to do a proper break in, synthetic oil is not recommended.

can request for the right oil to be used?

I think if you are not on guaranteed COE, you should consider converting to one now when it is still cheap to do so. If COE keep increasing the next few rounds, AD would be reluctant to convert to guaranteed at your booked price by topping up $3K.

BM did bid for my non-guarantee altis classic at 59XXX. Coe will continue stay above 6XXXX in apr. Even if coe quota up in May by 20%, if coe still within lower range of 6XXXX in may, wil not get the car unless top up. With new cevs rule fr july, no way to get coe at below 60k b4 jul. Just get prepare to top-up.

if coe stays above 60k, the question is then how much are you willing to top up?

good for you bro....two bids in nothing done....abit skeptical about how the entire bidding process by AD are done. Seems to lack transparency in how things are actually done. Bought after CNY

I bot during the CNY the $100K altis classic package.

Let's be realistic, classic basic total cost is about $36K, if COE is $62K, then grand total cost is $98K.

Do not expect them to sell the car with 2K margin difference.

Latest BM package now and also other AD (Honda package), shows the COE rebate is now $60K.

Which means Apr bidding confirm above $60K.

In May, when COE quota up by 20%, and if COE drop to lower range of $6XXXX (61, 62), that would be the time frame to top up.

Dont wait until COE rise to $67K, then how to top up so much??

Or worst case, just take back deposit at end-May after 6 rounds of unsuccessful bidding??

hmmm so your point is to do top up now? and to sidetrack abit.....i really dont understand what it means based on their pricelist saying free upgrade to Gurantee-ed COE with car trade in....I traded in my old car but still need to top up 2k????I know we've been through this but i dont really see any terms and conditions stating any other thing like wise......

Due to huge backlog and 3 weeks time difference between now until next bidding on 8 Apr, AD have more time to collect orders in 3 weeks, so Apr 1st bidding will be up again maybe to $67K or more.

Early May may drop a little.

I think only in May, if not then no car.

I do not think BM will sell at no profit or loss.

Don't forget that is gross margin. You have to minus off 1/2 (or 1 year) road tax, erp unit, inspection cost, free servicing, half-tank petrol plus other "options" (not in OMV) they added locally e.g. leather seat, alloy rim etc.

Realistically, you should look at a gross margin of minimum $10K before the AD can cover their cost. Below this most probably you need to top up.

Went to ubi service centre for a while just now just to feedback some concerns to the service rep.

1) protrusion of the key way for the lower dashboard. (He say he will feedback to R&D)

2) key too bulky that I turned the engine off accidentally with my knee. (He ask me to reposition my seat but told him that's my most comfortable driving position, then he say he will feedback to R&D).

3) reverse camera alignment out. (Technician say no way to adjust).

I find all the answers unsatisfactory and crap especially last one.

If stated free upgrade to Guaranteed COE for car trade-in and still have to pay $2k then Borneo is misleading customers. And to think I recently posted in Vezel thread that PIs with Guaranteed COE but having a limit is not being truthful!! Seems like AD no better [thumbsdown]

of cos there's a disclaimer there "consult our sales engineer for full details" but my point is dont put "Free" if there's a need to top up. So what if there's a price slash etc, a top up is never free and free things should not need to top up anything. Just my 2cents worth

Fully agreed, free means free! If have to top up then it's not free anymore.

Exactly like the PIs "Guaranteed COE" but guarantee up to a certain amount only. That means not guaranteed and should be renamed as Limit COE or whatever. Don't like these gimmicks and I'm surprised a big AD like Borneo also doing this. Unfortunately as they are the sole distributor of Toyota cars who are otherwise good and reliable, we have no choice but to go through them!!

I disagree. If BM is looking at 10k gross margin, they wont bid 58k/59k for non-guarantee pkg.

I find it disappointing that in Singapore car forum or should I say Altis forum that people here mostly discuss the prices of the car and COE or spend so much time bitch about other non-car related stuff instead of constructively discuss the technical aspects of the car.

Should I say it is the failure of education or Sinkies couldn't be bother to get themselves educated?

Please...more discussion on the cars please.

I'd reckon you are an FT? To each his own then.

While I agree that the obsession wtih the price and profits made is contentious, ppl have their own prerogative and let's leave it as that. You can choose NOT TO READ and carry on discussin with people that matter or share yo same thinking.

Trust that you can read between the lines

Powder engrish or brilliant Chinese Sinkies called FT. Don't go down the slippery slope Mr Mod. I'm merely making a call for more indepth discussion. After over hundred posts, I still yet to learn much about Altis than when I read from other forums ie Taiwanese and Malaysian ones.

Go to a high end car forum then. They can disregard the price & only talk about technical details of the cars.

This is a bread and butter family car for the average Singaporean man. Which happens to be the most expensive city to live in with sky high car prices. Of course, there are gonna be constant topics revolving around its price and affordability. See the link?

Maybe you are the one who needs more education, not us "Sinkies".

[thumbsdown] Thumbs down for you.
