But halfway I already lifted off my throttle and hence almost two cars length between me and jazz. May be I should have given him more time and this would not have happened and I would have peaceful evening. But he really need to go and practice filtering at Singapore JB custom. I gave him time to cut in but he didn't want. When I reach halfway, he tried to squeeze in and made me jammed my brake. Lucky behind car wasn't following me closely. The part where he moved out alittle to overtake the lorry turning right? IMO you overreacted la. This happens everyday to me and Singapore lanes are so wide you can just move more to the left and still keep in your lane and you won't need to jam brake at all. R_ole 1st Gear December 26, 2013 Share December 26, 2013 Guys, What's your take on this situation.. You're in a 2 lane road, the taxi 2 to 3 cars in front is wizzing in & out of lanes. Then he realise the lane he's in is blocked & trys to squeeze into the lane you're in. Road condition travelling speed in your lane is about 20 to 30km/h almost bumper to bumper. Would you let this taxi pass given the condition? Met with this trans cab last monday. & that's what he did.. My car had my wife & child... I chose not to let him in given the way he was driving & there was not much opportunity (rather have the taxi behind me juding by his driving methods). He continued to edge in while my car was still moving forward, then that nut stopped his cab gesturing as though he was in the right of way.. I continued on & realised he was moving dangerously close behind me. Traffic was moderate so I applied brakes when the car in front slowed down. I think this a**hole thought I did it intentionally, then started to speed up at the side, wound down the window & started cursing, swearing & threatening.. I just ignored him... Since I'm about to reach my destination (maxwell market) that a**hole actually follwed me & started horning like a crazy F***. before wizzing off.. Mind you, I don't condem all taxi drivers, I chose to remain silent not complaining to Trans(basically useless)/LTA/TP, as we all understand that this could be their bread & butter. If I loose my car, I can take the public transport, it's just not as convienent, they will literally loose their job.. They should just bear this in mind.. My take is, a little more gracious on your part will help both of you end a better day. Afterall, like you said you have already noticed that he is quite a zippy driver. Since he is STILL going to zip pass you no matter what, why not just let him go first?
R_ole 1st Gear December 26, 2013 Share December 26, 2013 Well, my instinct back then was to have him behind me rather then in front, anything happens when he's in front, he's gonna be pushing the blame on me, never know when he would just zip in & out dangerously. Either way, don't deny I could have chosen to give in to him, but will do it only if my family members are not in the car.. Thats my take out of this heehee. :)

You should just keep left and drive leisurely. He'll definitely be far away from you within a minute.

Newcarbuyer Neutral Newbie March 1, 2014 Share March 1, 2014 This is clearly a sign of yet another road rage saga! My personal experience for sharing: Due to a Civic's last minute filtering (w/o checking mirror), I was being edged out of my lane and enroached the next lane as a result. My mistake really, but it's human reaction I suppose (defensive driving). The next thing I know a fellow motorist was horning and gesturing to show his displeasure. At the traffic stop, he alighted and marched towards me, all fired up and ready to have a showdown. Now, the saga stopped as I have a cam mounted and that must have caught his attention. It all ended within 10 secs. Now, is that all necessary? Regardless who is in the wrong, in today's time where information is disseminated almost real-time through the internet, the aggressor at always at the losing end. You could be a big time CEO/ entrepreneur etc, all it takes to ruin your career is to air the short clip. I'm sure your board of directors (especially if you run a listed Co) or business associates will be astonished at your anger management ability, and that will cast a certain degree of asperion on your professional life. So my friendly advice is to cool it off, and be aware of the consequences of your action. Safe driving. On 10/13/2013 at 1:05 PM, Alechi said: What is wrong with taxi drivers nowadays? Terrible, terrible, terrible ! So fed-up I sent the following complaint to SMRT. Wait till I get my in-car video camera and next time when such incidents happen again, I will send the video recordings straight to the Traffic Police. ========================================== To: SMRT I am writing to lodge a complaint against SMRT taxi driver of SHB 5968 U. On 13 Oct 2013, at approximately, 6:16pm, I was Bukit Batok West Ave 3 traffic junction (Lane 2), waiting to turn right into Bukit Batok Road. I was the first vehicle. On my right (Lane 1) was SMRT taxi SHB 5968 U, also the first vehicle. When the traffic light turned green in our favour, both our vehicles proceeded to turn right. However, the SMRT taxi SHB 5968 U, instead of turning from lane 1 into the corresponding lane 1, dangerously turned into my turning lane (lane 2) instead, almost causing a near accident terrible accident. I had to immediately jam-brake and blare my horn to register the danger. The SMRT taxi driver (SHB 5968 U) was unhappy with being horned at and tailed me to the next traffic light. He stopped next to my car (it was red light), wound down his window, and I wound down my front passenger window (where my wife was seated - behind were my young children). He made some hand gestures and I told him he should turn properly from lane 1 into the corresponding lane 1. He then made some smuck facial expressions that he saw nothing wrong with his driving, before flashing his middle-finger at both my wife and myself. He then sped off. We travelled along the same direction and over at Brickland Road traffic light junction, when it was red light, i managed to take a photo of the SMRT taxi concerned (SHB 5968 U). I am registering my complaint specifically on the following: 1) Dangerous and inconsiderate driving by SMRT taxi driver of SHB 5968 U - turning from a lane 1 turning lane into a lane 2 turning lane and almost resulting in an accident. 2) Rude and unbecoming behavior with the flashing of his middle-finger at my wife and myself I encourage SMRT to review the in-cab video camera of SMRT taxi SHB 5968U and its black-box, if any (I understand Comfort delgro cab installs such devices). It will show very clearly how your SMRT driver drove so dangerously and inconsiderately. I saw that there were passengers in the taxi as well. I encourage SMRT to try and contact them and i am sure, they can verify how your SMRT taxi driver of SHB 5968U had flashed his middle-finger, unprovoked. The relevant illustration and photo is attached for reference. I am extremely appalled and troubles over this callous and dangerous SMRT taxi driver of SHB 5968U. He had not only shown his lack of understanding of prevailing driving rules, but also displayed an unbecoming behavior that speaks so negatively of SMRT, an established Singapore public transport and service provider. I would like SMRT to investigate this matter and I do sincerely demand an explanation as well as SMRT's follow-up actions taken against this terrible driver of SMRT SHB 5968U. I look forward to SMRT's prompt update. Thank you. Nobody knows. did you raise your hand as a gesture of apology after your sudden change of lane? If no, dont judge. he has the right to be mad just as you have the right not to apologise.
tk592 Neutral Newbie March 15, 2015 Share March 15, 2015 Just came across this tread and want to share my recent experience with a reckless and arrogant taxi driver from Prime. Watch out for Taxi SHD2140A on the road! The driver engages in dangerous driving that endangers passengers and other road users. I was driving towards a traffic junction along East Coast with the green light in my favour when this Prime taxi beat the red lights on his side of the road causing me to almost bang into his taxi! I had to jam brake or there would be an accident! I horned at him for his reckless driving. The Malay taxi driver wound down his window and showed his middle finger. Fortunately, I got his taxi number SHD 2140A. Such rude and reckless driver should be banned from driving taxis! I hope Prime Taxi do something about this.
