Haha .. actually I had judder issues even with the new wipers and was using RainX. I read that lemon juice can help remove the RainX, so I bought a lemon cut into half and wiped the windscreen with it .. it actually worked. No more judder, and after that threw away the RainX.

RainX is real snake oil to me. Learnt from this to never ever put anything onto the windscreen at all

I think its just a generic wiper for the 159. If you want the original wipers, I got mine from shop4parts.co.uk. Those come in the ricambi alfa packaging.

Don't know whether it makes a difference but I use esso 8000. 70% highway. Most of the time only wife and me in the car. Stock rims and tyres until the recent change to ps3.

i alwasys felt esso 8000 is the best suited petrol for 159 but recnetly i mix it with petronas and it was one of the most smoothest drive i ever had. So now i mix these 2 and so far so good 9.5km/l as per computer actual i think around 9km/l

my wet fuel cap.

can't imagine how much petrol i lost over the past 3 years

Wow, your car must have smelled like the petrol station . Anyways, I swapped out my sparkplugs today initial impression is the engine is much smoother, like just serviced . The old sparkplugs were running for 35,000km and the engine felt rough.

Is this a known Alfa problem or model specific problem or a normal wear and tear car part ah?

No, not stock ones .. the stock ones lasted 125,000km . The last ones were like not very lasting, forgot what brand.

If you don't mind having dried water spots on your rear windscreen or side mirrors, you can apply rain X.

The cracked fuel pump top is a common problem for Fiat and Alfa for a very long time.

As for spark plugs, the stock ones are platinum. They are ex but last 100k km at least so there is no need to change it too soon.

not many people know, but the Alfa engine management system creates a very very very strong spark.

Having had my 159 and changing them to fine tip ones.. smaller gapped ones.. colder ones.. etc in the realm of finding that little bit extra, I realized that the stock plugs are the strongest and lasts the longest.

Having that little bit extra is great. but be prepared when the tip breaks off and you get rough idle... etc etc.... diagnose it and get it replaced.

things like that la......

Actually, I was going to get them from ebay but since I was ordering other parts from shop4parts.co.uk, I decided to get wipers from there instead. No problems so far.

Count, it is worth opening up the thing and take a look at the extend of any possible leak.

My last tank.. i think about 5-7 litres of petrol leaked and evaporated away.

Now, after fixing, keeping fingers crossed, no smell and fuel consumption back to normal.

While washing the car today, I checked for the fuel smell - yup pretty strong, gonna get this repaired next.
