Hi Yes, each has pros and cons which I will list down:

Proton Gen2

Pros

- Lots of mods

- cheap to mod and maintain

- Good handling and light weight.

- Can mod to over 200HP easily

- Manual!!

Cons

- Crappy brand

- FWD

Mark X

- Toyota Reliability

- Powerful 2.5L engine

- Able to install supercharger

- RWD

Cons

- Ah peh looks

- HEard that parts are expensive

- Heavy as a tank....

- No manual, crappy torque converter

Alfa 159

Pros

- Looks really nice

- Handles pretty well

- Selespeed which is something like SMG, no torque converter

Cons

- Hard to mod

- Only 1 supercharger kit available

- Not reliable

- FWD

This is what I feel about each brand. I am leaning towards the Alfa 159 because it really looks cool. Heard that it handles well and it uses clutch instead of torque converter.  But my concern is that it may be too unreliable and too expensive to maintain. If thats the case, I may have to give up on it.... :(

So I am asking for opinions.

We like to keep our car stock. If you like to mod, this car is not for you. There is no cons when you drive an Alfa Romeo, it just limitations and getting use to it. If you do your home work, all Alfa Romeo is as reliable as a Toyota.

The computer will not allow startup unless the brake or clutch pedal is depressed . I encountered a few times, it couldn't detect the brake pedal pressed but I have the clutch pedal option on my manual 159.

Hi all,

I have a similar problem whereby I can't start my 159 Selespeed occasionally (happens once or twice a week) . The frequency has become more often now (daily).

I put in the key, press the Start button. Nothing happens, no click, no clonking of starter motor.

Sometimes I had to pull the key out, put it back again, then engine can be started, but not all the time.

Sometimes I open the driver side door, close it again, then engine can be started.

Initially I thought my key battery is weak, and I changed to a new battery. Problem persists.

I also tried using my spare key. Same problem.

Any clue or same encounter from owners here?

Thanks.

The "eeeeee" sound for the Selespeed pump is there.

It can happen any time of the day.:(

When I insert the key, yes, there is some sound when the car goes through all the initialisation/checkings.

Check your car battery, maybe need to change. If your battery is okay, check your starter motor, maybe need to change.
