Help and advise needed.

Hi, just drove my 159 with 5 adults to JB and got stuck in the jam for 5 hours and at its 3rd hour car was on a slope and "excessive clutch temp" warning flashed. Got a shock as the burning smell can be smell from cabin.

A week later car judders badly at 1st gear during initial moving off and mildly at R. Got engine mount replaced but still persist. Really irritating especially if u r in a jam.

Read on a post by Stig years ago regarding his 159 juddering on 1st and R during initial moving off.

Any solution on that Pls advise. Thks

Pretty sure it's clutch.

Why would changing engine mount help anything?

And when u are on slope.. Don't balance the car with throttle. Always use brake and handbrake.

Thks bro chrispie. My engine mount is worn pretty bad too. Is there a link between the clutch and the clutch bearing? If yes Do u think I shld replace the clutch bearings too? And if I have a clutch do u roughly know AS or AC charges how much for the workmanship. Thks. Appreciated.

Don't know leh.. I can't see why the two parts affect each other..

Not sure how much AS charges for corkage. I changed my clutch there last year for 2.1k. Btw AS or AC aren't the only place you can get your clutch changed. Garage Republic at Kaki bukit can do it too. Perhaps you Google and call for quote.

was fiddling around with the car today - investigating fast dash indicator - found that the bulb used for the front indicator is not the right type

Anyone know where to get H21W bulb? Autobacs doesn't sell

Got to those generic spare parts shop which Sells oils and fan belts. They should have.

For 159, clutch bearing and slave cylinder is same and inside the GB. Labour to drop GB is ex. So advised to do one shot, tgt with whatever seals that is leaking too.

Parts and Labour should be under 2k. Call and ask around ba

Hi Theredstar, I read that there's a master cylinder and slave cylinder. So is the master cylinder also called clutch bearing or r they separate? Sorry new to Alfa.

Can also recommend me a few ALfa workshops I can call to. Thks a lot.

Redstar is referring to the concentric slave cylinder. It has a clutch bearing on one end. Have this replaced when you replace the clutch kit.

Hi Fellow Alfisti,

As I read the various posts, I realize I share everyone's joy as an Alfisti and also everyone's woes as an Alfisti. Allow me to share my sentiments:

My current Bella is my 2nd Alfa. The first was a GT 2.0 Selespeed Blackline.

Before buying the GT in 2008, I went to test drive all the cars in its class.

- BMW 320i: Boring, lifeless drive, dull interior, pretty pricey...yawns...

- Audi A4: Lagi boring, slightly better drive than the bimmer, worse interior...double yawnsss

- VW Passat: .......Don't even feel like wasting my time talking about it

- Lexus IS250: Good driving response, very good power (acceleration and torque), spacecraft like dash interior, decent price level...BUT the missus didn't like the big transmission tunnel that divides driver and passenger...don't ask me why..women!

Then I suggested to the missus..why don't we check out Alfa Romeo. As a matter of fact, I strategically chose to plant this seed last as I know it'll be the killer blow. I've already set my mind on an Alfa but the buy-in from the missus (aka home finance minister) was critical.

Once we stepped into the Teban Gardens showroom, there laid on a raised tilted platform the Black GT 2.0 Selespeed Blackline. Friendly Jay Ravi was quick to point out that we could reupholster it to any color leather for free...including red leather! My friends...this is as close as orgasmic car porn as one can get! ;-)

The missus fell in love with the GT and it was a done deal before the deal was even made! Hahaha!

Then the journey of being an Alfisti started:

- Changing expensive UHP Tyres every 9-11 months

- Electronic and sensor gremlins (Check engine warning light that never totally went away despite sending it for checks countless times, lambda sensors, etc etc)

- Worn out cam shafts after 3 years (yes I drove the car hard..the way it should be driven!)

- Forever creeking door hinges (large heavy coupe doors) which never when away no matter how much grease the workshop applied)

.....the list goes on....

Then after warranty expired (after 3 years and 100,000km)...yes I drove to JB quite often for golf each week...what did I do???

I traded in the GT for a black 159 2.2 JTS QV!!!! And the journey continues.....

I think in life, one just needs to decide whether if he wants to wheels for practicality sake...or for that emotional fulfillment...and all things in life come as a package..one can't have his cake and eat it too.

I've chosen to be an Alfisti and I've never looked back since. Next up..Guilia QV...there is hope in this world once again!!!

Im proud to be Alfa Man forever.....

Heya guys I'm looking at a Alfa Romeo qv Giulietta. Tried searching for local reviews but not much. Is there anything I can get from you guys here? Any info is welcomed.

First time buying a brand new car. Am concerned with overall reliability and of course the servicing that comes along with it.

Loved the interior exterior and sound insulation!

G looks v impressive on paper.

The QV even more so as it shares the same engine with 4C.

I'm guessing u have test drove and still like it.

But what do u mean by sound insulation?

I thought it was waaaaay too quiet.

EA..

Turn around can be long

And communications can be improved

But they are trying to change ba

Too quiet is good what. That's e reason why I'm shortlisting this.

The only prob being the lack of drivers means lack of spare parts which also mean can be costly during maintenance if need change faulty parts.

Yea admit they wanna change, can be an opportunity to take advantage but need a lot others to do e same...

hmmm....getting an alfa for its quietness may not be worthwhile

Not quiet per say, muted engine noise appeal to me more than the raw one... Just me perhaps :D

no worries

to each his own

so long we all share a common love for our bella ^^

(not to mention most of us are finding ways and means to sound louder. lol)

Yes Frenzzg, we'll be organizing one soon.... I'll let you know :D

We're looking for different places for breakfast, with nicer longer drives, including some B-Roads, where possible.

Also, coming up in June will be our annual Durian Drive.
