It's this guy right

Arnold Arnold Gay is Singapore's Auntie Killer who will charm your mornings and give the latest news updates.

His sharp wit and wealth of knowledge accumulated from many years as a news reporter provides you with the latest reports.

He keeps fit with regular tennis and jogging sessions.

And sorry - on looking at the page, I assume it is Jason Johnson who is the Canadian (I got the two confused)

Actually, reading the news this morning, since the activity was carried out within the premises or compound of a private house, then why does it matter?

Unless, of course, there are laws against open burning like that, which is another issue.

I think that guy's only mistake was to publicise the act online, which led to all this backlash.

Why can't people learn to keep things private, and instead, put their activities online for all and sundry to see and comment??

Shame on this GAY DJ for doing such a stupid stunt.

Should sack this GAY for spoiling the image of KISS92

Seems like they were deliberately publicising to get more publicity for the station - so it may well have been more of a station initiative than a personal initiative.

I would imagine, that when you are in an industry like this you are smart enough to know that things you attach your name to reflect on the station -so he probably, at the very least, ran it through them first

It belongs SPH lor....go and take a look at where the news is and it becomes a little clearer,,,

Besides - are there any actual "private" stations in SIngapore? I tot it was MediaCorp + SPH x 2 + Armed Forces Radio and that is all?

Thus, we get a bunch of elites with no soul [gossip]

There are many ways to de-stress but this is really poor taste. What kind of message this act is sending to our kids? If we are encouraging them to burn books now, what else to follow?

there is a long and very nasty history of book burnings, the most notorious of which is during Nazi Germany

the worst had got to be the burning of books together with 1000+ Confucian scholars during the Qin Dynasty

You could think of it this way because you are an adult now. I think most of us understands it.

However, kids won't think this way if they see parents encouraging them to burn their books. They will perceive it that books are garbage.

Agree.. books shld b kept well if not can give away to others

There are many ways to relieve stress

I just read THIS commentary from Bertha Henson -

If it was assessment papers, and not text books - I would withdraw any and all objections to the event I have made.

My thoughts on book burning, and the inappropriateness remain - but if this was not a book burning, they don't apply to what Arnold Gay did.

Interesting. This is the 1st I've heard of this breakfast network blog. I am surprised to see that Bertha Henson, (who is still with SPH/Straits Times, I presume?) - write so critically about one of her own.

I shall be reading up this breakfast network blog with great interest.

Ah.. some snippets about Bertha Henson... she seems to have gone rogue... left SPH and now writing bad things about her former masters....

I wonder if one should fully trust a turncoat....
