Mods, I know we need brownie points to rise to next level.

Correction, I now know the purpose of becoming member of the week or month for that matter.

All along, I give points to posts that I support but lately I subconsciously felt compelled to "return the praise" after receiving brownie points.

Last time, I just read and praise when I login. Now, I login and address notifications (return the points) asap before I can start reading the forum. I don't lose sleep when I run out of points but I find it meaningless to be in the constant cycle of "return/receive/return" points.

Could the mods improve the system so that it becomes enjoyable and not a rat race to chalked up as many points as possible?

It is rather pathetic when I see members whose posts makes sense no longer posting/informing me that they can't return the points just because they couldn't keep up with the system.

Sis, don't take it to serious.

The market will react and adjust by itself, as in any other system. Is always novelty and the rush to be part of it, of course face value form a big part in the race, but once it ware off, things will be back to normal.

Those who were in the race early would have lost interest and moved on, those who are still trying to play catch up will still be trying their luck. After all, some feel that they are popular, and an award will sum up that self proclaim and ego.

You may choose to follow or you may choose to live your life in the forum as you used to. You do not have to stress yourself out returning points if you choose not to, all you may lost will only be more points given by whoever you did not return, that's all about it. I have people who PM me because of some dislike points, and make it sound like all posts can only be praised, I choose to ignore.

So, please don't let the system get in your way of enjoying the forum, this is a forum, just enjoy it the way you want to enjoy it.

Cheers!!!

Nic, don't get me wrong. I enjoy the forum but I find it disturbing when members whose post makes sense don't continue due to pressure.

Sis, no worries.

People come, people go, some will rest and come back again, new ones will join, new opinions will surface, people don't come in due to many reasons, it may or may not be due to the dislike function.

Why would anyone feel pressure if their posts make sense?

As usual, it may make sense to you because you are thinking along that line, but it would appear to be senseless to someone of the opposite camp. A post or a reply, is just how a member express his/her thoughts, in agreement or not.

If a post received more dislikes like praises, or worse, only dislikes, the sense part may not make sense anymore. But till now I have yet to see any very serious ones.

Nic, I might hv phrase it wrongly.

What I am trying to say is that they feel the pressure of returning the points that they received and indirectly, they don't contribute after awhile.
