Hi,

My family & I (3 adults & 3 kids) going to Perth coming late Nov till mid Dec, first time there renting a car to have a relaxing free & easy holiday.

I'm planning to cover a few places down south of Perth like Margaret River, Walpole. I'll be deeply appreciate for kind advice & suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers.

The duration of your stay? There are alot of nice apartments available but alot limited by the min. no of days required.. No point fitting into the apartment when it does not fit your travelling itinerary .. Set you itinerary then decide which place best fit your requirements. No point staying at nice house but travelling to other parts is a back breaker..

I stayed in Seashells Scarborough, they have 3 bedroom apartment that come with all facilities in the house. Away from Perth city with a beach in front and supermarket next to it and nearer to Fremantle.

but end Nov/Dec will be summer holiday season where the beach will be quite crowded.

Hi Sozo, the last time we picked up our rental car from the Perth airport and headed down south directly to the Margaret River area and spent about a week there. We rented a cottage that has cooking and washing facility at Waterfall Cottage. Here is the link to their website showing the location http://www.waterfallcottages.com.au/location.htm . From there we drove around everyday and found interesting places to explore on foot. The cottage grounds is very spacious and my kids enjoyed running around outside.

Going this Dec as well. Planing to rent an MPV from Avis and stay at a 3-bedroom service apartment in the Belmont Avenue area as it has a big balcony and great views of the Swan River. Anyone have comments on this area?

Planned itinerary is mainly Fremantle, Caversham Wildlife Park,, King's Park, Cottlesloe Beach, Aviation Museum and general shopping around the city area.

Belmont is quite a dodgy area... ok in the day, not ok after dark.

Need to recommend you to try Perth's most famous apple strudel in Northbridge if you have time or happens to be around Chinatown... some more can bring back to Singapore. used to do that when I was working there there - just tell cabin crew to help you put them in ther chiller if need to ...

address and more info on the link: http://kampungboycitygal.com/2012/09/corica-pastriess-apple-strudels-northbridge-perth/

Anyone can advise Perth weather in Dec? Temperature? humidity? not keen to go if it is as hot and uncomfortable (outdoor) as Singapore. I read that it is usually around 30 degree celsuis but can get very hot once in a while.

30 degree? more like 40 degree and it is not once in a while, look at what happen to Sydney fire this year [sweatdrop]

hot and dry, not really uncomfortable like Singapore cos you won't perspire so much but must stand the heat.

Thanks, I thought summer in Sydney and Melbourne are worse than those in Perth. Anyway thanks for advice. Visited Gold Coast during summer once and like what you mentioned, it wasn't humid but super duper hot, actually it was worse than Singapore. I shortened my trip. So will give Perth a miss during this time.
