Owen_fan 2nd Gear October 3, 2013 Share October 3, 2013 (edited) Need advice. This morning when I turn on the car radio, the HU power on/off switch jam (the button sinked inside), can only turn it off by using the remote control. Will the HU still drawing power from the car battery when parked in the car park? I worry that the bettery may die up if the HU is still drawing power from it. Torquemonster 1st Gear October 3, 2013 Share October 3, 2013 If your HU is wired correctly, it shouldn't be drawing power when your car is turned off.
Owen_fan 2nd Gear October 3, 2013 Author Share October 3, 2013 The HU is the original set that come with the car when I purchased from TCM, so it should be wired correctly right. When I turn off the engine, there is no light showed on the power button.

When you cease the engine you hear no sound then the current not active. Likewise use a multi tester to take the reading immediate your engine cease and check again the next day see whether the current deteriorate if yes than the connection is active. Yeobh 4th Gear October 5, 2013 Share October 5, 2013 Generally most of the acc and even cigarret socket are wire via the key ignition switch circuit so there will be no 12volt dc power supply once the key is in the off position.
Galapogos Clutched October 7, 2013 Share October 7, 2013 Hi, I can't seem to find the option to post a new thread, so my apologies for hijacking this thread. My post has nothing to do with the original post, so if anyone could direct me to the post new thread button that would be great as well... Anyway, I have a 2 way speaker system from CDT in front, that's very old (bought in the 90s, it's seen 3 different cars), as well as an amp. The rear speakers are stock. I also have a powered tube subwoofer in the boot. I drive a 2005 Vios and I'm using the stock HU. My drivers are water damaged, but my tweeter is fine. My amp also seems to be damaged as I need to crank up the volume for my speakers to engage. As I've only 2 more years till my COE expires, I'd like to fix this for as cheaply as possible while still maintaining decent sound. I visited an auto installer and he recommended just replacing my 6.5" driver with a pair of coaxials, removing the amp and using the HU to power the speakers directly. That would cost me about $80. I'm wondering if it's possible to get a pair of 6.5" drivers (no tweeter) for around that price? I'm thinking it would probably sound better than a similarly priced coaxial? Also, is it possible for the 2005 Vios stock HU to drive 2 pairs of speakers(front/rear) + powered subwoofer? Thanks! ↡ Advertisement
