One incident whilst during prowling in the night (around 2.00am).......

After passing the rear fencing of the camp, my partner keep on mentioning to me whether did I notice a very sweet scent of flowers. I keep asking him to keep his mouth shut and walk, don't look back. He looked at me in blur face and keep mentioning about the sweet scent of flowers (Frangipani flowers).

After returning to 'Guard's Room' I told him not to mention anything if he heard any one calling his name or scent of flowers in the middle of the night and never look back over his shoulders. I said I would explained to him the reason in the morning after guard duties.

Even before his next round of prowling, he was suffering very high fever and his face pale. He was send to medical centre and stayed there for 2 weeks......

Reason : "Flowers Ghost".... [sweatdrop]

Nowadays, very seldom can see such flowers, very nice scent. Smell it during the day and if ever smell it at night, better keep mouth shut ...... -_-

Sometime they will play the bugle call during flag lowering but that is in the evening. If u talking about loud horns most pro its the drivers signalling moving out for battalion exercise.

Too young to know then. Might have been a tradition left behind by the British. I don't think is flag lowering since that was blown late at night. Iirc, it was on a daily basis. It was from a musical instrument and not those vehicle horn.

When my turn comes to serve, didn't hear of such things anymore.

witness this incident during BMT ....

My BMT at Nee Soon Camp 1 and was performing Bravo Company guard duties during weekends (Sat). It was also during chinese 7th lunar month. Together with my partner at around 3.00am. we spotted 12 dogs running to the centre of the parade square where the heli-pad was. I signal to my partner that something strange happening and we hide behind a low wall to watch.

One dog walk to the centre of the heli-pad and sit on the letter 'H' while the rest stayed around outer circle. Those dogs began to howl all together and that errie feeling down our spine. For 5 minutes, the dogs were howling as loud as they could and stopped. Then off they run to different directions.

Came out of the barrack and saw other guards of Alpha, Delta and Echo companies also comes out to the parade square. We talk to each other about the incident and returned to our own company.

Just could not explained the incident and none of us (including other company guards) saw any other things except those dogs. -_-
