Lately, talked with a bunch of young chaps and the word "RPL" came up .. they were like "WTF is RPL ?"

During one ict. Took rpl to tekong.

During lunch. We're given the standard Styrofoam box lunch, tear one corner of the box use as spoon. Normal chye png.

A 20 yr old nsf attached to our ict complain that the lunch cannot eat.

US old birds were laughing. Last time we eat with mess tin and plastic bag.

Times have changed.

Last time when SBC made this Navy TV drama series .. I think RSN only got missile gun boats ?

That time MGB was the newest boat when SBC made that drama series. During that time the CPC and PC were still in active service and saw lots of action.

Now, MGB already kena scrapped, no more in existence. Few more years, I think my Missile Covette era will be scrapped too. They still trying to it going but COE renew twice liao, sooner or later sure gone too. Our frigate also one COE expire liao.

Still prefer the landrover for radio set mounting over the OUV. FFR!

I think the younger chaps would not have heard of CPC from RSN before.

Heard before lah. I thought they were eventually transferred to the PCG?

CPC is a lot smaller and more compact than the PC shown here.

On another note, I amd surprised the PV has a relatively short life span as RSN tend to max out the lifespan of their ships to 30 yrs and beyond.

Yes. I had the opportunity to attend to the CPC when the navy handled them over to PCG and PCG sent all the CPC to drydock.

during my NS, got a driver illegally u-turned his landrover at lim chu kang road

the bugger was so lazy that he made the u-turn straight from the leftmost lane

a car speeding from behind rammed into the side of the landrover

whole engine gone

but the landrover only got a hole at its door... the window not even shattered

really amazing how tough this vehicle is

Memories from 1982 - last day of BMT, M16 missing. Held back for many hours, deployed to search high and low. About a year later attempted arm robbery with M16. That guy caught and paid with his life. Sad

it depend on the type of accident.

has a rover overturn in ROC. The entire top half collapsed, cos no roll cage.

It was a miracle the driver survived.

Can't remember where it was but its the only armed robbery in SG using M16 by a less than 21 yr guy.

There was another case where an M16 was used in a kidnap case, saw it on Mata Mata 3.

30 June and 23 July 1983: Sek Kim Wah, a 19-year-old conscript, broke into the home of businessman Robert Tay Bak Hong at Andrew Road on 23 July with the aid of an accomplice, 19-year-old Malaysian Nyu Kok Meng. Sek killed Tay, his wife and their Filipino maid. Nyu released the Tays' daughter and her tutor. Sek also killed two persons at Seletar Reservoir earlier on 30 June. Sek was found guilty of murder and hanged on 9 December 1988 while Nyu was sentenced to life imprisonment and caning.

I find last time all SAF vehicles are tough. Still remember there was one driver reversed his MB290 at a civilian carpark inside an army camp, didn't see properly and hit onto a car parked behind. The front part of the car was badly dented and headlight all crushed, but the MB290 didn't see much scratch!
