SG gharmen is all about cutting costs(salary) by outsourcing to foreigners.

But there is a social cost when a foreigner is hired in place of a sporean.

Too many sporeans not working wil cause social problems on a much bigger scale later on.

When that day comes, I wonder if our gharmen pple wil still b around to solve the problems.

When economy is bad, we also don't see a sharp increase in recruitment in uniformed bodies. I only rem many becomes teachers or taxi drivers...... [laugh]

As long as non-critical duties are sub-con, I'm fined with it.

Aux police go OT claims but not our state police, so it makes it even more attractive to join aux police then.

If sporeans dun wan to join the police force, gharmen sud look into it n find ways to get more pple in. If ty hv to increase the pay, then it has to b done.

Afterall the gharmen has such a huge budget surplus every year to play with. Or ty wan to keep all the extra $$$ for their own salary n bonus? [:|]

that's the problem.......increasing the ComBen......and if SPF gets it, other will have to as well so as not to create unhappiness.......in the end it will mean higher tax.........and when all get some increment in ComBen, then still most will go to non-uniformed bodies and the problem goes round and round again....... [:(]

As for their own pay, I rem someone said it's worth it and if reduce further it might dissuade others from joining them....... <_<

If one day we quarrel with our neighbor and they decide to recall all their citizen back to their motherland, so who is going to protect Singapore?? From marine to aviation security, bank and now traffic enforcement we can see aux police. Do we really need to depend on them? Unable to recruit real police officer?

why such quarrel happens,SAF will come in already.

it's easier said than done........S'poreans complained about the lack of TP presence on the roads and TP responds with the quickest solution which other Home Team units had employed successfully ie sub-con to aux police units.

Attracting people to join uniformed bodies is not easy and after every graduation from the basic training, every units get only a certain number of newbies. Unless the compensation and benefits are greatly increased which will translate to higher taxes or an economy downturn occurs , this situation will remain.

If anyone has good suggestions on how to improve the recruitment for SPF, I'm sure it will consider your suggestion.

Till then, let's give them a chance to prove themselves before armchair critics like us put them down...... -_-

So your point is because something is diff, we should take the easy way out, avoid solving the root of the problem and resort to curing the symptoms? Our country will only go downwards if we take such approach.

RE: Higher taxes. Please la. We have so much surplus. Internal security is a key infrastructure component, as important as education and defense. If we arent able to live with smaller surplus because of this, then what can we spend on?

Lower the entry requirement ..... [sly]

Why takes in those with 5 'O' level and above .... -_-

Lower to 3 'O' level and during their sting in police force, take up further studies in fields related to their work. They will score with flying colours.... [smash]

fully agree with you, SPF n SAF losing alot good people yearly but another reason could also be 'internal' politics. wonder if ex regulars in SAF n SPF who are members here, can enlighten us.....

Those less than 3 'O' can still sign on as contract PC......not sure if the scheme is still on....
