Hi bros, anyone had encounter this problem? When I started my engine, there was this screeching sound appear. Think is the alternator belt causing the sound. Anyone had tried using WD 40 to smooth it? Or roughly how much it will cost to change the belt? Thanks in advice.

Did you change timing belt just recently?? If yes, it is normal, just need to go back to the workshop and ask the workshop guy to tighten the timing belt can already. FOC.

Yes, when the belt is loose. The thing is when change new timing belt, the belt is very tight and not seasoned. So what happen is when drive for some distance, the timing belt become seasoned and will stretch and become loose. The loose gap when park for overnight where there is more moisture, that will seep into the loose gap and create a layer of rust in the timing belt itself. So that is why when morning start car will have loud screeching sound and for a short while it disappear as the rust is rub away by the rotating pulley.

So yeah go back the same workshop if you do not know how to tighten the timing belt.

You are mixing up timing belt and alternator/fan/aircon belt.

Timing belt is inside the engine, protected by a cover.

The other belts are not covered.

Hi is it easy to tighten? Or need the mechanic to do it?

It depends on the car model. Just see how the alternator is mounted, loosen the bolt (anchor) use s lever to push the alternator so that the belt is of proper tension and tighten back the bolt!

Hi they gave me the original belt and include installation. Think $60 quite reasonable.

+1, these 3 belts (alternator, fan, power steering belts) are call v belts. not timing belt. many people mixed up. timing belt is inside engine as per what bro Fcw75 says.
