Mattjoe 1st Gear September 5, 2013 Share September 5, 2013 (edited) i reported to traffic police, got a call from an investigating officer to say that they won't be investigating cause there are no injuries. I wonder if I have been a motorcyclist or a pedestrian if it would be a different story. They driver also made a false report to say that I hit him. Again the police say it is not an offence to make false claims but i am at liberty to take up a civil suit. I have already made a full claim! The investigating officer told me that they are now looking into catching people who drive against the flow of traffice but not interested in car reversing on 4 lane road. So now it is okay to reverse on main road, make sure you get into an accident that does not injure anyone. In this way you won't be charged for dangerous driving. What do you think? 1fast1 Supersonic September 5, 2013 Share September 5, 2013 This one not dangerous driving but idiot driver. It is exceedingly dangerous driving. It's not even about "risk of causing an accident" - an accident actually happened here.

Awesome mata we have here. How the heck can it not be an offence to make a false claim? Why aren't accident reports treated like tax statements, where there are criminal penalties for lying? Oh, I know, it's OK to cheat fellow citizens, but never the gahmen, right?

From the way it look, he put the gear into neutral but think end up in R gear, shocked and bang the back. Thats what i think. So he isnt dangerous driving but idiot and blur driver, we can forgive him but still ask for compensation
Mattjoe 1st Gear September 5, 2013 Author Share September 5, 2013 It is a crazy system we are having here. Teaffic police will not investigste as long as there are no injuries. I wonder TP will book a driver that reverses on a road at high speed if caught red handed.
Mattjoe 1st Gear September 5, 2013 Author Share September 5, 2013 Driver told me he wants to reverse and change lane. Not the blur kind where car roll backwards. It was actually accelerating towards me. My young son in front passenger sear , should claim psychological trauma.

So he isnt dangerous driving but idiot and blur driver, we can forgive him but still ask for compensation This is arguable, because he kept reversing for the longest time, when he should have caught the error if it was just a question of having engaged the wrong gear. But, even if the cause was exactly as you say, it is still dangerous driving. Being an idiot and driving dangerously are not mutually exclusive - in fact, the two often go together. For instance, the TP are not going to let you off a dangerous driving charge for driving into oncoming traffic because you say you felt "blur" and didn't know that it was a one-way street, etc. Edited September 5, 2013 by Turboflat4
Mattjoe 1st Gear September 5, 2013 Author Share September 5, 2013 Totally agree with you. Imagine if i am a motocyclist or pedestrian, there will be serious injuries.
1fast1 Supersonic September 5, 2013 Share September 5, 2013 This thread needs to be merged with: http://www.mycarforum.com/index.php?showtopic=2690912 and I hope a nice mod will also correct the spelling error ("cosidered" [sic]) in the thread title - it's really killing me. Pandapura 1st Gear September 5, 2013 Share September 5, 2013 Totally agree with you. Imagine if i am a motocyclist or pedestrian, there will be serious injuries. Look on the bright side, at least no one in your car was seriously hurt and you got your in-car camera's video as evidence the car in front of you actually reversed into you. Just submit the video to your insurance, think it shouldn't be too much of a issue to claim from the guy in front.
Mattjoe 1st Gear September 5, 2013 Author Share September 5, 2013 Yes, thank God for no injuries, and also managed to claim because of the video. The guy actually made a report to say that I hit him from the back. As a result the repair was delayed cos his insurance company disputed the claim.
