Anyone installed a polycarbonate canopy before? Cost! Considering having one for back of my place. About 4x1.8m. Rain gutter corroding so thinking might as well remove and put in canopy for extra shade.

I replaced my polycarbonate roof into composite the year before. 2.5x6.5m cost me 3.2k by using  back the existing structure. Polycarbonate is marginally slightly cheaper or about the same. So iif you use back the current support, I would think 2.5k or less ? If need to set up new support structure, I would think 5k to  6k.

But polycarbonate allows light to penetrate, it can make the area very hot because of the green house effect. It is ok if your area is under shed all day long , otherwise consider composite material .

@Kklim , two more points to note, the transparency of the polycarbonate pannels will fade over time under hot sun light, after a few years it may turn mat instead.   Some pannels may crack after hot sun and rain and resulting in leak, you may want to take note. Get a few quotes and talk to the contractors  they will be able to advise you.

I still have a afew amll panels of polycarbonet at the back yard , the transparency has become like this. Comparing with composite, this still allows some light to pass through  though.

Do aluminum composite bah

more shade

then on top put some solar panel or water solar collector but if you want to do this, you have to pre buy all these equipment then ask the installer to do
