Donut Supercharged August 28, 2013 Share August 28, 2013 i think last time, when we were v young, was there a such thing as parental control thingy on tv shows? NO! I rem last time when young, my dad loves to watch Hindi shows with beautiful Hindi woman dancing around coconut trees and Indian men fighting over the gals. It became my fav shows too. And do i turn out to be a lecher or pervert? NO!! So why worry now? The only F'ing show that i will never let any kid watch is the most stupid "Spongebob Square pants" WTF is the show all about? All the characters are freaking ugly and will probably give nightmares to kids.
Jman888 Moderator August 28, 2013 Author Share August 28, 2013 i actually find Spongebob quite funny [laugh] can't apply what we watch last time to the media today, the child is not only influence by the tv prgoram but also extended to internet and games, hence it increases the negative impact. I will equate Spongebob with Simpsons. It's a cartoon for older audience. The character pretty retarded. That's why I don't let my boy watch spongebob. haha

Now that you mentioned it, I do recall last time in the 80s, there were this very popular japanese drama called Oshin (Ah Xin). I remember a scene where a man tried to rape a servant. Even though they were clothed, he was grabbing and squeezing her neh neh. My mum quickly turn off the TV and ask me to go into my room.

That the world out there is not as "nice" and "friendly" like what Barney depicts!

Then its not just the TV. you will also need to control internet and games. In fact, internet and games have more neg impact on kids. No matter what, our TV are already been censured by MDA to a extent. so nothing to worry about. The internet and games are not censured at all. this is the danger part. Robin 4th Gear August 28, 2013 Share August 28, 2013 i am asking for a father on this parenting issue... if you have kids in pre-school (or pri 1) and you are living with your parents. Your dad loves to watch some violent shows or movies in the evening, shows like NCIS and living dead, which has mixed of violent, dead bodies, gross images, sex, etc. which you think may would have bad influence or negative impact on the young kids. So the issue is do you think it is ok for kids of this age (8 and below) to watch these shows or you should stop your dad from watching shows when the kids are around? at least till the kids are in bed. I don't live w my parents but my take is that everyone have to be consideratewhen staying together having said tt I have 3 TV in my home so if I waana watch soccer n my kid wants to watch cartoon then I go to my room to watch soccer Give n take ↡ Advertisement
