U don't bluff us though sch holidays hor.

Some say Durian is the herbal alternative to Cialis n Viagra.

But, I doubt u need any sUPplement in the first place.

Another use for Durian is the husk. So, u gg to ask who to kneel on it? Very medieval way of punishment.

I buy from him most of the time since it is near my place.

On a good weekend, he has about 7 people working at his stall. I think these days should be fewer since it is a short season and he mentioned that the season is quite poor that's why price is higher than normal.

I just ate some MSW yesterday (20$ per kg) and honestly quality isn't that good this time around.

Bro, you talking about Ah Seng right?

Their price negotiable anot?

No recommendation here, but for awareness.

Bugis Street stall charges S'pore woman and her foreigner friends a whopping $254 -- for just 2 durians

A Singaporean woman had brought two overseas friends with her to try durians, and was appalled that she was charged $254 for two at a stall at Bugis Street.

Stomper Michael alerted Stomp to his sister, Loreen's, experience on Jan 13.

She had asked to pay for the durians three times, but the stallholders just waved her off and told her to eat them first. They were only presented with the shocker bill of $254 when they were about to leave.

Michael recounted the incident:

"At 10:15pm, my sister, Ms Loreen Lee, accompanied by 2 female overseas guests from Macau, visited a durian stall at “Bugis Street”, along Queen Street.

"Two durians were ordered and she offered to pay the lady stallholder. The lady replied that they could pay later and invited them to eat the durians first.

"As this was not her first visit to the stall, she did not sense anything amiss. Throughout this time, price of the durians was not revealed and despite my sister’s repeated offer to pay for the durians, the lady just refused to accept the money.

"As they were about to leave, my sister approached the lady to pay for the bill.

"Only at this point in time that the lady announced that the final bill amounted to S$254 i.e. $48/kg for 5.3kg of durians.

"The lady showed the price list which was nowhere in sight earlier on.

"Logically, no Singaporeans would pay for such absurd amount. This is a rip-off.

"My sister and her friends refused to pay the amount, and the lady, accompanied by her fellow stallholders, refused to allow them to leave the premise.

"My sister informed my dad about the matter who in turn notified the police for assistance as my sister was ‘restrained from leaving’.

"On the other hand, before the police could arrived, my sister called her male colleagues to the scene for assistance. Finally, the matter was resolved with my sister having to pay S$80."

He speculated that his sister might have been targeted as a "tourist" because she spoke to her overseas guests in Cantonese.

In a phone interview with Stomp, Loreen recounted that her colleagues haggled with the stallholders for about 45 mins to an hour before they relented.

Loreen said:

"At first they tried to give a $50 discount, which was still over $200. There was NO signage of the prices and they were very quick in opening the durians, even though I specified that only one person would be eating.

"After a long time haggling, they decided to let us pay $80.

"We left before the police arrived.

"It is a shame that this has to happen in Singapore and to my business associates from Macau.

"I have been there before but I think even though the stall location is the same, the vendors change.

"I would like to share this story just to spread a word of caution to all Singaporeans and friends to be careful not just of stalls in Bugis Street but stalls like this in general."

Michael alluded this to the Sim Lim Square incident, saying that such errant stallholders plotting to con tourists will cause the image of Singapore to be affected adversely.

He has already written a letter of complaint to the relevant authorities.

Sorry late reply. So far I have not tried to nego with him. Anyway, he has a lot of customers and always fully booked. Doubt he will nego.

Anyway, durian prices now damn expensive. 20 bucks per kg for MSW. I want to eat but cannot afford it.
