Civic2000 Supercharged August 21, 2013 Share August 21, 2013 (edited) According to the report of the Star of Malaysia, the bus was overloaded with 53 passengers as its capacity was 44 passengers. 37 confirmed dead and 16 injured. Half of the passengers are foreigners which included PRC, Indonesia, Thai, Bangladeshi. This bus which provide service between KL (Titiwangsa) and Genting is not operated by Genting. The Express Bus service owned and operated by Genting is Known as "Go Genting", which start from Gotong Cable Car Station to KL Central, Pudu Central, Kajang, and Gombak. I take this bus from Genting to KL for a day trip for shoppng and makan. You can either use Genting Points or cash to buy bus tickets, and all seats are numbered and no standing passengers are allowed http://www.thestar.com.my/News/Nation/2013...nds-ravine.aspx Edited August 21, 2013 by Civic2000

Atonchia Supersonic August 21, 2013 Share August 21, 2013 ... Last I drove to genting I took this bus service to kl for day trip... The driver was pretty fast actually... God bless those dead. Really scary now I think back I also ever took the bus with my wife from Genting to Titwangsa, less than 2 ringgit each per trip to go KL so many working there took this bus. It took about 30mins so those drivers usually drive quite fast. Heard on radio earlier only 10 person, now 37 dead. Think all should stop rushing all the time. Jman888 Moderator August 22, 2013 Share August 22, 2013 i guess this is the cheaper option for the local (probably workers in GH), tourist usually travel in coaches from hotel or KL sentral which can cost up to RM60. Valrosx 3rd Gear August 22, 2013 Share August 22, 2013 Going down hill, driver maybe did not brake in time or brake failure ... if driver did not panic, did a real hard right turn., maybe bus flip on left side and probably hit side walls of road sliding down only. RIP... God bless all. Anyway drive safe people, there is a reason why going downhill in Genting have lots of high bumps to negotiate near corners and please heed the "Use Engine brake" signage seriously... Altivo 3rd Gear August 22, 2013 Share August 22, 2013 (edited) It's exactly right at the sharp bend. It' seems the driver just went straight. Picture grabbed from Yahoo. Ironically, the deceleration lane is just to the left. Had the driver gone into the deceleration lane, it might have help. From the picture, if the driver had kept left, the bus would have gone up the emergency escape ramp. This may/may not have save them. Could have panic, and didn't think of using the ramp.
