The issue of car ownership here cannot be easily solved coz of high import tax etc . . ." simi ma ai tan lui " As far as the NEA is concerned, diesel is NOT 'green'.They have remained unconvinced on particulate matter (PM) emissions spewed out by diesel engines. They have provided feedback on their position, in no uncertain terms, to the German car manufacturers who were pushing for more garmen support for private diesel cars, over the last decade. Newbie26 Hypersonic October 7, 2016 Share October 7, 2016 From pure cost viewpoint, any mileage >15K/year will have "enough" cost savings when using diesel The unknown in Spore is the resale value of old diesel cars. 2-3 years old still OK, but much older, the fear is the more significant drop in value especially when mileage is high and buyers pool is very small Those who are trying to sell old diesel cars will understand For those who chalk up >30k/year, drive diesel cars for 2-3 years and then sell off do make sense I drive about 18k a year.Used to chalk up about $250 each mth on 95 petrol with FC at 10km/l (Civic FD 1.6)Now I pay about $100 each mth on diesel with FC at 13km/l (BMW 2GT)I'm about 80%+ city driving.I pay approx $50 a mth more on road tax so I save about $100 each mth.

However you pay same price for your car and you get less PARF after 10 years. This is the "benefit" of going green.

New/current diesel tax is much lower than the previous diesel tax for private vehicles. Think have to worry that they revert back to the old diesel tax then the road tax will be 4-5x the amount of petrol equivalent engine

merc280v6 6th Gear October 10, 2016 Share October 10, 2016 Looks like it's safest to be part of the crowd in SG... try to be special like CNG or diesel and face the wrath of the govt...In jungle warfare, if you know that your enemy may be setting up an ambush ahead, you won't walk straight into it right? I would like to think that the average SG car buyer is more discerning. Avoid potential dead ends, at all cost!! It is after all, your hard earned money. Be risk averse! Place your bets on the winning horse and you will not live to regret and kick your own A S S later on! Best guidance I can give.
