Nicholas 5th Gear August 13, 2013 Author Share August 13, 2013 the red highlight was what i mentioned in my previous post. Filter left is of course, fail safe but it doesn't mean exiting to the 2nd exit from the right lane is wrong and that is based on the Dafansu's 7th edition by TP. From all bros' different replies here, I think just keep left when exiting is safer.

Patwong 3rd Gear August 13, 2013 Share August 13, 2013 Hi All, Just to share the upcoming changes at West coast highway. I am concerned with the upcoming ERP gantry at AYE coming 2014. Many motorist will use West Coast highway as the next best alternative. So I wrote to LTA. Here is one portion of LTA reply +++++ We note your concern on the upcoming ERP at Ayer Raja Expressway (AYE) in 2014. Based on our monitoring, the stretch of AYE near Clementi has been congested during both the morning and evening peak hours over the past year. The traffic speeds along the AYE have deteriorated to below the optimal speeds of 45km/h on expressways, and have gone as low as 35km/h, resulting in motorists experiencing stop-start traffic conditions. With new developments in the surrounding areas expected to come on-stream, for example at Jurong Gateway, the situation is expected to worsen. We have studied it very carefully and concluded that ERP is needed along the stretch of AYE near Clementi during selected hours. To share with you, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will construct a new dual-two lane flyover at the intersection of West Coast Highway and Jalan Buroh (Buroh Circus). As part of this project, LTA will also widen West Coast Highway and West Coast Road between Pandan Garden and Pandan Crescent. The proposed conversion from a roundabout to a normal cross-junction is part of the improvement proposal. When completed, the flyover will help to relieve the existing traffic congestion experienced at the road intersection. It will provide traffic heading to and from the city along West Coast Highway and West Coast Road with a direct link across the intersection. These enhancements will also add traffic capacity and improve the overall traffic flow along West Coast Highway, Jalan Buroh and West Coast Road. To meet the anticipated increase in traffic demand (due to new developments in the western sector), LTA has been improving the overall road network along the entire West Coast Road corridor progressively. In 2011, LTA completed the construction of a flyover at the junction of West Coast Highway and Clementi Road, as well as improved the traffic junction at Clementi Road. LTA has also recently announced the widening of Pasir Panjang Road and West Coast Road between South Buona Vista Road and West Coast Link. These road improvements will improve the traffic capacity and flow.At the same time, it should also facilitate smoother movement for buses. LTA has called the tender for the project. The construction works are expected to commence in the 4th quarter 2013 and to be completed by 1st Quarter 2017. Once again, we thank you for writing in. +++Unquote+++

Seriously that photo show that red car shouldn't be turning left. Pretty obvious Liao. Just think of the exit at pie towards tuas corporation exit. Can lane 2 turn out?? The answer is no. Same case here.
Mcf777 Turbocharged August 13, 2013 Share August 13, 2013 I dont know which is right. For round about, especially the one at Newton area, I always have in mind is that if you want to turn left, must be on the left most lane. Cannot turn left from the 2nd lane

Asure7 1st Gear August 13, 2013 Share August 13, 2013 (edited) my personal view (using common sense without looking at highway code) is only outermost lane can exit the roundabout. Don't assume that the vehicle on outermost lane cannot continue without exiting either. Sometimes it's not easy to filter to the inner lane , given congestion and the way people drive, and even more difficult to filter out to outer lane unless someone nice give way. For round about, especially the one at Newton area, I always have in mind is that if you want to turn left, must be on the left most lane. Cannot turn left from the 2nd lane Newton is a very badly designed junction. If u realised, it is not longer circular. Anyway, the road there have directional arrow to help u. Some lanes can are both straight and turning while some are solely turning lanes.
Darthrevan Supercharged August 13, 2013 Share August 13, 2013 that is because we people here dont have the "give people 5 seconds" patience, "save ourselves 5 days, 5 weeks, 5 months" of trouble's mindset thanks i learnt something new today..any idea where did this quote come from? TS car is wrong, if i kenna lanngar by TS car i will super kpkb. left most lane does not indicate MUST turn left but TS car cannot make the exit from inner lane. http://jkhan999.blogspot.sg/ Edited August 13, 2013 by Mockngbrd
Timex1441 1st Gear August 13, 2013 Share August 13, 2013 Problem is red car thought blue car will SURE exit Jurong Town Hall Road, while blue car thought red car will SURE NOT exit Jurong Town Hall Road, therefore langa. Red car I think was said to be wrong on basis that if want to exit Jurong Town Hall Road, she should be in same lane as blue car, ie. left most lane. i guess u r not familiar with tat roundabout....there are TWO lanes for exiting towards Jurong Town Hall, so red car wasn't wrong
Nicholas 5th Gear August 13, 2013 Author Share August 13, 2013 Seriously that photo show that red car shouldn't be turning left. Pretty obvious Liao. Just think of the exit at pie towards tuas corporation exit. Can lane 2 turn out?? The answer is no. Same case here. From the photo, I know what you mean. If I was in that roundabout, my intuition is that it would be dangerous to exit from inner lane. What's interesting is that, our basic/advance theory book says left lane cars have to exit by 2nd exit. So this particular roundabout doesn't exist in the theory book even though we have so few roundabouts? I'm sorry but your example of expressway exit is not a good one either because expressway exits are stated clearly if there are 2 lane exits. ↡ Advertisement
