Just back from Hong Kong. Saw so many Tesla Model S in Central and Causeway Bay. Outnumbers Mercs and BMWs this time round. Surprised me at HK has fewer proportion of landed homes compared to us. Landed makes charging easier

They cruised so silently past me. We should have more of these on our roads with a more tax friendly structure.

Ya. Was in HK last week and so many Tesla. Every where also see Tesla. Really quiet when drove pass me

The screen did look very laggy though

People, Think about it. Tesla has been making cars for how long ? and they managed to come up with this !.. So Ford, chev, Merc Toyota and all the rest have essentially been taking all of us for a very boring ride for a very long time.. Thank you very muck Mr Elon Musk .. you will go down in history as the Man who took Automotive design and engineering to the technical limit

I must say the car is quite spacious and will sit 3 adults comfortably in the rear. If you think the new Volvo Sensus screen is big, the one in Tesla is huge! Overall, cool and sleek looking car [thumbsup]

Even if we have Teslas here in singapore, the charging stations and all are not convenient if not nonexistent. not to mention all the taxes that are imposed to import such electric cars over.

Tesla Model S Shooting Brake Is Ready To Start Wagon Its Tail.

The Tesla Model S has a surprising amount of cargo capacity. If you need more, you need look no further than the Model X crossover. But if what you really wanted was a Model S wagon, you’re in luck. Because one such creation is ready for its big debut.

Designed by Niels van Roij and constructed by RemetzCar, the Model S shooting brake was commissioned by Dutch collector Floris de Raadt.

“The idea was to translate my Tesla Model S into a dynamic and sporty yet elegant Shooting Brake, rather than creating a car with maximum luggage space,” said de Raadt. “Niels van Roij Design developed several options for the conversion, focusing on premium design combined with limited conversion costs: thus making coach building available for a larger group of connoisseurs.”

The same outfit that built a hearse based on the same, RemetzCar kept the core structure of the electric sedan in tact, right down to the crumple zones. But it developed a new tailgate, with a rear spoiler and hidden wiper and brake light. It also fitted a bold strip of chrome to make it look that much sportier. And it painted this first example in a gold-flecked green.

This won’t be the only example it will make, though. Following its debut next month at the International Concours d’Élégance Paleis Het Loo in the Netherlands, RemetzCar will build as many as 20 units. That is, assuming enough customers step forward with cash in hand.

Hmm, i wonder if it's meant for US market.

I read somewhere wagons are not popular in US. Cars like v90 and rs6 avant never made it to US.

Since it's a limited production model, may interest some of the buyers in US.

I am seriously wondering if this was staged... Maybe Rowan Atkinson should consider doing a retake in his next Mr. Bean or Johnny English series...

Dumb and Dumber: Champion of the champion :omg:

On a side note, lucky she did not trigger the nozzle while pointing it at the charging inlet, else a fire may occur.  :relief:

That shows the importance of safety awareness for handling a electric car... An accident may occur much easier than you could imagine. :XD:

A few facts:

About 60 percent of a car's carbon footprint over its entire life-cycle comes during its manufacture. The manufacturing carbon footprint of an electric car is much higher owing to the rare earths used in the batteries.

An electric car runs on electricity (duh), but it's important to think about how electricity is generated in our country. In certain countries, where a significant portion of the grid comes from renewable sources, an electric car is "greener" than one say, in Singapore, where our electricity comes from burning natural gas.

In addition, because of this quirky thing called the 2nd law of thermodynamics, the amount of energy you can use from electricity stored in an electric car, is less than if you had burned the fuel used to generate the electricity, directly, in an engine. Assuming similar efficiencies for both.

So driving electric cars will make our cities, but not our environment as a whole, cleaner and greener. There's also the scrapping and recycling of the batteries to think about at the end of 10 years over here.

Anohter interesting video for this model

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OWhAJz90tg

Considering that one full charge can go 200-300km, it is very viable for Singapore driving. 200-300km one charge could easily last most drivers 1-2 weeksof daily driving in SGP.

Furthermore, with no clutches or gears, perfect for our start stop traffic. Our start stop traffic would have been less efficient for petrol engines.

Past electric cars have been crap in looks and performance, but Tesla model S look like the first very feasible and practical electrical car that look really great.

Model S is built from the ground up as an electric vehicle, with high-strength architecture and a floor-mounted battery pack allowing for incredible impact protection.

It's amazing video...... [bounce2]
