GEORGE TOWN, PENANG - The missing diamond from statue of the Goddess of Mercy (Kuan Yin) Temple in Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling was recovered today.

A police spokesman said an investigating team found the precious gem stone hidden in the pile of shattered glass casing which contained the deity.

He also said a 35-year-old suspected burglar whom was beaten up prior to his arrest on-the-spot remained in a stable condition in the Penang Hospital.

"We have not found any diamond in possession by the suspect. Our team combed the scene and managed to find the glittering diamond inside the broken glass pieces," he said.

The spokesman added that a temple manager mounted the diamond back to the forehead section of the deity in the premises this morning.

It is believed that the diamond was originally placed on the statue's forehead since the inception of the historical Kuan Yin Temple some 200 years ago.

It was reported that the 35-year-old man had failed in his attempt to steal the diamond in the 1pm incident.

He apprarently used a hammer to smash the glass case of the statue.

The noise prompted a 45-year-old caretaker and two other men to track down the suspect who wast trying to escape from the temple.

The suspect barely made it outside the temple before he was overpowered by the trio near an altar and handed over to the police.

Reminds me of one time when my young son accidently kicked a ball onto our Guangyin at home.

He refuse to apologies and the next morning, he cant walk properly. [dizzy]

We brought him to the clinic cant pin point any problems at all.

Until he kneel for some time and apologised properly then he recovered.

Can you imagine.....he didnt fall nor step outside the house. Yet he had problem walking the next day. [sweatdrop]

Really scare the shiit out of me & wify.

This is just not right. [shakehead]

My friend, those misguided people must have been led wrongly.

They should ask the question, what would Jesus do? Get someone to bash something?

Kinda hard to think big J would condone such a silly action.

Those small cells are dangerous.

What would bodhisattva do? Take it, if you need it. Correct?

Some people are scary in there misguided beliefs no?

That's why central command and constant monitoring and adjustment is needed.

The IRA had a big problem with the Priests and had assistance to negotiate for peace behind the scenes.

That's why Mr George is so cheered as Vatican Representative. Go George

Even our old man, LKY, never dare to order any religious place to move away from its original place, no matter what new development is going to take place in that area.

Smart way is to move everyone living nearby away.
