JaydenSTI 1st Gear July 29, 2013 Share July 29, 2013 Subaru owners are not all posers, losers etc. But those kind of people are attracted by a Subaru Impreza / WRX kind of car, and thus, probably higher % of the owners are bengsters. without a doubt bang for the buck, so easier to bang wall i suppose~~~ err.... STI excluded, right? LOL
Pocus Turbocharged July 29, 2013 Share July 29, 2013 Just to check, does Tuscani comes with ESC? It seems like without ESC for this case, it would have flip already. Oops, looks like I'm too late and the riddle to "what marque is the black car" is solved. Nevertheless I would like to offer my somewhat armchair analysis (if anyone is interested, a bit exhausive) Initially I also thought the black car is a Subaru impreza with AWD. But the way the car almost lost control tells me otherwise. This zig zag loss of control is prevalent for FWD cars without any form of electronic driving assists like ESP, ASC, etc. As you can see the black car at high speed narrowly misses the Red Merc and steers back to lane 1 WITH brakes applied. That is the number one (and most common) mistake to get a car out of control. During high speed, the sudden braking of the car shifts all the weight to the 2 front tires of of the car. This weight shifting puts tremedous amount of stress to the front tires while reducing traction at the rear tyres. A sudden steer in the front wheels will cause the whole weight to be push against the direction of where the car is steering too. This in turn induced oversteering to the car, the driver probably got a shock that he almost steer into the curb when he only steer a bit. The second mistake is he attempt to countersteer to correct his understeer, again while STILL pressing the brakes. This in turn have the weight countershifted to the opposite direction of the car hence the car oversteer back to the 2nd lane. If the driver is STILL depressing the brake, he will experience a snake like manuver until he regain control of his vehicle. In professional terms, this is called Trail braking: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trail_braking It's executed in a corner, this black car epic fail in that. This driver was lucky as he most probably didn't press on the brakes extremely hard, worst case is that his car will flip on the second oversteer. If the car comes with ESP, ASC or similar, he would not zig zag as the system would have detected the weight transfer and increase the rearing braking more than the front when he hit the brakes. I'm not sure but I presumed a Subaru with AWD would not zig zag too due to the 4 wheel full traction nature of the car, correct me if I'm wrong. As to the incident: I believe people don't go to the road to look for trouble, the red merc probably did something off-cam and earlier to piss of the black car. Kreampuff 1st Gear July 29, 2013 Share July 29, 2013 Red lancer did what he could do in the circumstances. If you see a car coming up in your rear view mirror at double your speed and you know the lane to your left is clear, do you think its a really smart move to immediately move to the left? I think if he did that, all four cars (merc, lancer, tuscani and camera car) would be scattered all over the tunnel. And my vote is that probably there is a lot of action prior to the video between the two antagonists. If you are driving significantly faster than other cars on the road, it is normal human reaction to notice cars travelling at the same speed as you are. It is extremely unlikely that the Merc and the Hyundai didn't see each other until they moved into the same lane in front of the camera car. I also won't call it racing. It is probably more accurate to call it road rage. Someone cut someone else off or did something to piss off the other driver, and this is typical retaliatory driving. Happens every day. Soya Supersonic July 29, 2013 Share July 29, 2013 Why ppl say racing? Looks like a typical case of road rage from the black tuscani. Prob the merc highbeam or horn the tuscani b4 that and the tuscani became tulan n wanted to 'teach' the merc a lesson. And the merc prob see the tuscani no up decided to irritate the tuscani and everyone simply became stooopid after that....... Such boorish driving behaviour are a dime a dozen in sgp. I think if he did that, all four cars (merc, lancer, tuscani and camera car) would be scattered all over the tunnel. Ya, this is quite a probable scenario if the Lancer switched to lane 2 at the start of the video. But maybe if he switched to lane 2, then the merc would have langa him, but the blackie would have shot clear of the cars. Unless he (red Lancer) didn't check mirror and just switched lanes a few seconds into the video, then the tunnel would have closed up, and next COE bidding would probably have four more bidders. Felipe 3rd Gear July 29, 2013 Share July 29, 2013 Agree sgrean have terrible habits on the road, but alot of forumers have terrible habits on the keyboard as well, we don't talk about MCF since most of us are drivers, we talk about EDMW, even those guys keep questioning why he road hog when it's so clear that he is over taking. Imagine the red were to go back to lane 2, the black at that speed already planned that maneuver would have crash into the back of the red. edmw age group very vast tats y. so the topics there v vast as well! xmm, zehzeh, religion, diy, stock market....u name it, they have it!
