Problem usually lie with the owner... some cars like toyota can take more abuse from owners who don't take care of their cars, hence when they drive other brands/models their car got problem.

The Kia 1.6 engine was quite reliable for my previous gen cerato. When scrap at 9yo had 0 leaks and still willing to pull. No rough idle.

Did maintain it regularly around 10k oil change with only amsoil 5w30.

My previous picanto driven 8 years with mileage 185,000km when sold. Zero problems except normal wear and tear which applies to every car. Engine as good as day one. Gear box as smooth as day one. Some people don't maintain , and parts worn out like wheel bearings they say Korean cars not good. Toyota's wheel bearing wear very fast. My friends toyota, alternator , steering rack, kaput. So u tell me Korean cars don't last?

Nowadays jap cars have many problems. Something wrong with their design and factory.

Hi all,

Recently set my mind on getting a K3 SX (2017 facelift), as I like the sleekness and aesthetics of the car.

Sought my friend's opinions and he gave a dead NO GO without a bulge.

He commented that main issues with Kia is the engine, which will give rise to problems after 5 years.

I've not driven a Kia before, let alone K3, therefore wish to seek some advice from existing owner bros here, whether indeed there would be future engine problems, or problems of similar..thanks...

Your friend is very funny. He has never driven a KIA but he condemns it.

Like what Ricleosg has said..he doesn't know his stuff.. hyundai and KIA ae sister company and the engines and body chassis are the same. Kia even provide 10yr warranty on engine with 5yrs warranty on parts. What will the Japanese brand give? What's their level of confidence on their products?

Feature wise I wun waste time comparing lol...

My aun had been driving a cerato for nearing 10yrs, before that she was driving a rio.. I had a Picanto and that car really rocks as a 1.1L. Test driven few top rated Japanese cars..but my heart still set on KIA. The era of Japan drama is over. Korean is coming a trend soon...

this is my white K3 ah hehe. xiao bai!

Gravity blue is nice..dark between blue and black..

Who can resist the power to surprise?

Preceisly...my friend has been driving several cars makes, subaru, toyota, honda, etc and also continental models but just not a kia.

He even commented that if wanna get a korean car, hyundai should be the choice.

When i told him I have decided a Kia K3 over Honda Vezel, he immediately said I would regret my decision..

I think I would regret if I got the Vezel instead...lol

and Ricleosg, exactly the vehicle is such an head-turner on the road, even without additional kitting.

Alright, one more K3 member, signing in!

There is no such thing as a Japanese car nowdays. Most of them are assembled in Thailand.

Your friend is saying a Thai car is better than a Korean car?  [sleeping]

Mitsubishi, Mazda and Subaru still fully assembled in Japan... only Honda, Toyota and Nissan are done in Thailand... Suzuki is also assembled in Thailand or something like that...

For the FL model, the first click will on the the rear led red light cluster. If at normal position, the rear led will not lighted up unless you turn first click.

Peoples' mindset never change.  Some just are stubbon and just die die want to keep to their own opinion that Korean cars are inferior to Jap cars.  How many electronics and other products that we use are Korean products?  Previously driving a Hyundai Getz, no problem at all till scrap.

No problem doesnt mean it is good?! Lol. Some people might feel that jap cars driving experience is better than korean cars, even though korean cars might have no problem?!
