i am toying with the idea of buying a raw unpainted body kit from taobao (about 100+ only) and bringing it to a workshop for a spray job before installation. Just thinking and haven't really decided on it. If it is cheap, perhaps worth the effort.

anyone has advise on the feasibility and perhaps how much a workshop will charge for this service?

for this kit below I would trim and cut the rear bumper piece so that it is a small piece like the painted one below, and perhaps even cut out that bumper diffuser and install it separately in black if it looks good.

actually the external of the SG and China K3 are quite close. the main difference is with the front grill and the rear tail lights, and of course internals everything is left right inverted due to their left hand drive.

so far all my taobao parts from china fit perfectly. A little apprehensive to go to Malaysia with the safety considerations, especially with a new car haha.....

the China parts. If i purchase after shipping say $150. if the spray job cost another 200-300 also seems like a good deal. of course the key is that the spray job must be able to color match properly. hence need some recommended workshops from bros here keke.

Bro, can share the links and pics of the boot mat, and door protection. Any lobang for dashboard mat? All left hand drive right

Bro, dun mind share the taobao website address? Also how you ship back? I tot taobao dun ship to SG so i dun buy there one...

anyway, nice window visor.. I was looking for these too... minimalist... [thumbsup]

Here are the links to the stuff I bought:

Boot mat - http://world.taobao.com/item/45164486391.htm Because it's leather, got a bit of smell when i received it, need to air/sun it first before putting into the boot

Boot side storage - http://world.taobao.com/item/43450574244.htm

Door and seat back protection mats - http://world.tmall.com/item/18966433201.htm?id=18966433201 (bought leather version) and http://world.tmall.com/item/37221657138.htm?id=37221657138

Window visors - http://world.tmall.com/item/44572855906.htm?id=44572855906

Scuff plates - http://world.taobao.com/item/16374442614.htm I bought the 32rmb version

Tyre valve caps - http://world.taobao.com/item/45319987966.htm I didn't like the black rubber valve caps that came with the car, so bought a set of 4 with Kia logos to replace them [:p]

I use 65daigou Ship for Me service for shipping. Sea shipping is $1.50 for every 500g actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher.

u diy the scuff plates and window visor yourself? i bought the scuff plates but i dont know how to install it

Like what bro ricleosg said, the scuff plates come with double-sided tape. So just have to paste over the existing rubber ones.

The window visors come with double sided tape and hooks as well. Quite simple to diy.

Haha, yah, I am contemplating whether to buy the chrome trim for the A pillar to 'complete' the look [:)]

I am more of a minimalist person, so full silver/chrome window visor is out for me [:p] but if you are into it, silver on white car should look nice

agree that these window visors does look nice. the top silver trim sorts of completes the look. you just need to buy the front A pillar chrome moulding now kekeke

i was considering an all silver/chrome window visor. wonder if it looks nice compared to this.

For the bros who have collected their K3 recently or going to collect soon, do check your Thinkware car cam if your car comes with it.

I noticed that for mine, the parking mode didn't work properly. As in the parking mode will start (because I hear the voice prompt from the cam) but it only records/detect motion for a very short while.. as in 1 minute or so after parking mode activation. The voltage cutoff should not kick in so soon.

After some fiddling, I managed to trace the cause to the wiring. I saw from the fuse panel that the cam is hardwired to the internal lights circuit, and it seems that there is some cutoff mechanism that cuts off the power to the cabin lights after some time or after the car is locked. When this happens, power to the cam is cut off as well.

To fix this, I tried moving the cam wire to tap from the door lock/unlock circuit, and viola, the parking mode is now working properly [laugh]

Sharing this here in case mine is not isolated case and there are others who encounter the same problem.

Another suggestion: You can tap your car-cam wire to the SPARE 20A (if I remember correctly) fuse, as C&C, for me, tapped the IU power to the SPARE 20A fuse. I found this out when I decided to take out the SPARE 20A fuse for another purpose, and my IU lost power. HAHA.

And yes, power to the interior lights will cut out after the engine is off and the car is locked. I find that a great feature! No more dead batteries because of forgetfulness.

Hi, thanks for sharing.

I think i am experiencing the same issue. Do u mind providing more details on how to rewire the cables to tap power from the door locks?.. did u get KIA SA to do it for you or u engaged your workshop outside?

It will be great if u can take some pics of the hard wiring connected to the correct source of power.

Thanks again

I did it myself. It's quite simple actually. Just a matter of shifting the fuse tap wire to the correct circuit.

This is how my original wiring looked like. The red circle shows the fuse tap. There should be 2 of such wires - 1 for continuous recording when engine is on, and 1 for parking mode. For my case, the 1st wire is tapped to the cigarette lighter fuse near the top (not shown in the photo). And the 2nd one is tapped to the interior lights fuse.
hqXFEOl.jpg
If you are game enough to diy, here's what you should do:
(Disclaimer: I bear no responsibility for any consequence as a result of following these steps)
Pre-requisite - You need a tweezer with curved end. Alternatively, you can use the plastic fuse puller from the main fuse panel in the engine compartment.
1. Remove the fuse panel cover under the steering wheel.
2. Locate your fuse tap wire for the parking mode. If your case is same as mine, then it will be at the interior lights fuse. Pull out the wire head from the fuse socket.
3. There should be 2 fuses at the wire head - a 7.5A one for the interior lights, and a 3A one for the cam.
4. Use the tweezer to pluck out the 7.5A fuse and insert it back into the interior lights fuse socket at the fuse panel
5. The fuse for the door lock/unlock is the 20A one besides OFF (blue circle). Use the tweezer to pluck out the 20A fuse and insert it into the now-empty socket at the fuse tap wire head. So now the fuse tap should have a 20A fuse and a 3A fuse.
6. Insert the fuse tap into the door lock/unlock fuse socket
7. Put back fuse panel cover
That's it. You can now start engine, off engine and then test your parking mode. In my case, I used the Thinkware software to enable the blinking led so that I can easily see whether the cam is still on after i lock my car.
Hope this helps.
