It's a transport tool but I can't stand a dirty car. I wouldn't go out of the house in dirty clothes either. But I suppose SG culture is such that you actually see people in slippers at Orchard as though they going to the beach... No effort to at least look presentable in sandals or shoes.

I washed my car at least twice a week. Cannot tahan when see fingerprints around doors and dusty. In other countries like USA, Europe, Malaysia , people don't keep their cars very clean. As long haul drive will make the cars very dirty and a snow can damage the paintwork, and roads de-icing salts. I used to drive a Ford Focus in New York and there's no point keep it clean and spotless. Other road users will just hit your car while parking.

May I know what's the fc for our k3? I just finished the 1st tank of petrol and it was 10km/L only. Abit disappointing. 70% highway 30% city. Light footed.

My K3 Ex is 1.5 months old and done 2,200 km. Consistently getting 12.5km per litre or better. 70% highway 30% city driving. Tyre pressure 240 KPa. 17" Goodyear F1 A2. Using Caltex 95 and every 4th tank 98.

 

Aircon temperature set to minimum.

I'm also quite heavy footed.

 

K3 mileage better than my previous ride which was a Civic FD 1.8.

Previous I ride picanto getting only 10-11km/L for a 1.1L car. So actually I should be quite happy with k3 fc.

Tyre pressure at 34psi. Aircon at 22 degrees at 2 bar fan. Does aircon temperature setting plays a part to fc ?

Quite weird. On 2nd tank of petrol now and the car computer shoes 7.8-8.1L/100km, compared to previous 8.6-9L /100km. Seems like improving , think I found the "sweet" way of driving. When move off, accelerate to rpm 2500 constantly to let it change gears till cruising. Cruise at 70-80km/h. Never go at 90-100km/h.

 

FC usually gets better after your 1000km servicing oil change. The car's ECU will learn your driving style as days go by. Like you said, getting the "sweet" spot of you engine, handle her well like how you handle your wife. haha!

Seems like my tyre PSI is set too low. The manufacturer claims is about 220. Maybe should pump more.

 

Further more I usually travel lane 1 so my speed is more than 80 km. I usually avoid lane 2 and 3 cause heavy lorries with sand etc are travelling usually lane 4 else 3.

 

I noticed the optimal speed based on the instantaneous FC seems to favor 80 km as most fuel efficient.

You fc not accurate due to your tyre size. K3 should be 215 45 17.

According to my mechanic friend, aircon temperature will affect fc. His advice to set to coldest possible. Will also prolong compressor life.

New car comes with mineral engine oil. During 1K servicing they change to synthetic oil which generally gives better fc.

Tyre pressure 240 to 245 KPa is better for fc.

220 usually too low. Also too soft for steer. Don't really like. 240 with harder tyres better control and FC.

 

8.6 is bad. Do u always let your car idle while not driving or waiting in car? Like parked somewhere waiting for people, i will turn off engine. Sometimes i see other people waiting in car and turn on engine let it run. It will greatly affect FC.

hopefully he meant 8.6L / 100km instead of 8.6km / L.  sometimes ppl get mixed up looking at the trip computer.

Hi all, The tyres is stock Nexen. Not changed yet. I know that tyres are not good according to fellow owners. 

 

8.6l/100km I shall not complain but is 8.6km/l based on manual calculation. 60% city and 40% highway bah. I drive quite slow when in the city cause a lot of roadworks with gravel. Scare to damage paintwork. :) Now change to 70% highway 40% city then can get 11.6km/l.

 

Yeah my old car pump around 240PSI so fuel economy is quite good for a 10 yrs old ride.

Ya that's quite high fc. My friends Honda shuttle can get 15km/l.

Really depends on your driving habits and route.. I can get as high as 10km/l for city driving and as low as 14km/l when I go more highway driving.. k3 isn't known for excellent fc so no point comparing. But k3 fc is still manageable imo. Not the kind I have to worry about my pocket.
