Adrianli Hypersonic July 22, 2013 Share July 22, 2013 if you meet this one where you have to stop in front of him and waited 2 min for him to walk pass, will be hold your horn for 2 min in front of him? This is very common there. Every morning, I keep a super look out when driving there. Esp near the bus stop, when there are multiple buses at the bus stop. Ppl will just suddenly appear between the buses to cross the road. The traffic light, overhead bridge and road fencing does not deter them.

SLSAMG88 1st Gear July 22, 2013 Share July 22, 2013 Like this one! In future, i stop, give him my 'services' card <_< I don't think you're much of an angel here...you saw the guy from quite a distance away and yet seemingly aimed to make it a "close call" - I know you probably wanted to "teach him a lesson" but your sense of "justice" is a bit, shall we say, "off". The penalties for drivers are there for a reason, pedestrians have absolutely no protection if a car is to bang into them - so the onus will always be on the driver to be vigilant. Would you be willing to face the consequences if the old guy had have stopped in the middle of the road instead of continuing at his moderate, but consistent pace? There's a global stereotype of Asian drivers being the worst...in Singapore, drivers here are proving that it's not a mere stereotype - it's a reality! There needs to be a fundamental shift in the way we Asians think about cars - otherwise, we are not far off from our mainland brethren that we bemoan as "locusts" which are infecting our land... Turning off my rant-mode and going back to the video - in this case, if you had slowed down or even ebraked - what would that have cost you? A mere 5 or 10 seconds? What have you lost, what have you gained? Sometimes I think we have our moral compasses all wrong - we are willing to go all out to "teach" wayward pedestrians or someone who signals to cut into "my" lane (what is "my" lane btw - did we buy that lane all to ourselves - should I be charging rental???!!!) - but when we see a crime or altercation happening in broad daylight - we take a photo, maybe, and stomp it - a very weird way of thinking...don't you think? I think you have failed to realize that the ah gong is jay walking right in front of the traffic light. The same argument applies too, that if the ah gong were to wait another minute or so for the traffic light to be in his favour to cross. It would have been much safer for himself and the rest of the motorist isn't it. It takes 2 hands to clap.

Lights were in my favor that is why this is a lesson ingrained, regardless of the situation in your favor or not, be vigilant ALWAYS. As to whether i hold it agst the old man, well, one day he will meet his maker if he persists this way. Drive safe all

Which comes to the main topic of discussion, i do not blame the drivers sometimes! And my simple stance is Pay the crime, do the time or pay the fine. However in accidents with pedestrians, the fine is the life!
Kellylee Neutral Newbie July 22, 2013 Share July 22, 2013 I guess you have not seen jaywalkers who SMS cross and never even bother to look at approaching car coming. Pedestrian these days really expect drivers to stop and give way to them even though condition is not in their favour, because the court will always penalize the driver even though we are not at fault. Secondly our auto insurance is very tricky and no insurance co will insure you if you have such an accident record and also all the claims, repair process with insurance co is very complicated and messy so as much as we can we always avoid accident at all cost. And I think they know and they hold us hostage and cross the road like king.
