Too much oil!!!

Take a shower/shampoo pump and connect it to a tube (fish pump tube).

Insert the tube into the dispstick hole/oil filler hole.

Standby a mineral water bottle and pump out the excess oil.

Simple DIY which is my ritual after every visit to the workshop for oil change. Almost all WS will overfill one.

Remember to dispose properly. Submit back to WS or petrol station.

yah............they just like to overfill all fluid...........SMLJ fluid also they will overfill........... [mad] [mad] [mad]

The last time I mentioned checking oil after warm-up, a lot of people here jumped. It seems that there *might* be different standards from different manufacturers because a lot of people insisted their oil has to be checked cold (and say I anyhow hantam).

My owner's manual states to check oil warm btw.

my manual states to check engine oil cold or let oil settle down fully...............but for ATF must let oil heat up to 170-190oF before checking........... :D

Saab is indeed different. Check after 3 mins you stopped the car.

if its cold when you do the checking, its unreadable with oil all over the marking

Hypersonic

Yep, refer to owner's manual. That's the most accurate.

Anyway, to drain some oil off just bring back to the workshop and ask them to unscrew the drain plug and drain some off.

In fact, my first routine after changing EO is to remove the excess. It never fail me for me to remove 0.5L each time. I rather not talk to them.

I hv solved the problem of ws overfilling engine oil n ATF.

Since I provide my own oils, I just make sure I give them slightly less than what it wil take per oil change.

Then I let them happily pour all in n I wil chk if its within the min mark.

For engine oil I take the extra 1 lit I kept in my boot n top up myself till slightly below the F mark.

For ATF I wil drive home n when the ATF is hot I wil top up at my MSCP till the F mark. I hv never had any more problems with overfilling since I started doing this.

Last time my ws overfilled my ATF I had to use a thin plastic tube to suck it till almost the end of the tube then I put the end in a small bottle on the ground n let gravity suck out the excess. Takes damm long n very troublesome. [:(]

So which is correct way to check engine oil dipstick level...cold overnight or warm ???

Check yr handbook.

Most car is when car has been sitting fr a few hours till all the oil has settled in the sump.

I chk in morning b4 driving off. I then know how much I need to top up n just do it when free. No need to chk again.

Usually I fill my engine oil till the half mark. When I hv driven abt 5-6K km, the level sud hv dropped a little n I wil top ur abt 700-800cc till the F mark. Like this I am adding fresh clean engine oil after 5-6K km n the engine thanks me for it. It then lasts till my next oil change at 10K km. I sometimes even drag till 12K km b4 I change e oil. [rolleyes]

hi, i just realised my WS put in too much oil. it's way above the max line.

can anyone tell me how to take out some of the oil out?

Too much is how much exactly? Did you check with your WS how many litres were poured into the engine?

Or you check on your own and determine there's too much engine oil?

It's seldom WS make this kinda mistake. If they really poured too much dan it's their responsibility to rectify the issue for you.

The best way to check is in the morning before you start the engine. The oil is settled thru the night and it will give a more accurate reading.

If you are looking for a hose to go into the dip stick opening, the size is 0.5cm dia ( O.D.) You need a PU transparent hose. Such size of hose you can only get them from supplier of pnuematic hoses used in robotic or electro-mech operated euipment.

Sorry direct to the wrong guy [:)]
