@inlinesix Thanks for your reply. I'm not proficient when it comes to the technical areas of a car, care to elaborate on how you determine that? And maybe perhaps what kind of engine should I be looking at? I only decided on the 1.6A VTi because after researching, it seems to be fuel efficient and affordable at the same time? Please advise if you have better recommendations.

I am not even sure such an ole engine is fuel efficient or not.

If you want fuel efficient, buy Altis.

Oh yes and one more question regarding insurance for 2nd hand cars. I understand you need one when buying a car, but in this stage where I'm looking to buy the car, do I buy the insurance after the transfer of ownership, or is it something that should be bought way beforehand so that you have a valid car insurance before you drive off your new ride? Essentially when is the best time to purchase car insurance?

I'm looking at income and MSIG as they are some of the known car insurance companies and briefly read their coverage. Any advice or recommendations on whether these are good choices?

Thanks in advance.

Check with them first roughly how much the premium is. The car dealers will also try to sell you or link you up with their preferred insurance company. If not much diff, then let the dealer so for you and let him earn some commission. If you buy yourself, then start date of cover should be same day as the handover date.

Difference between purchasing via consignment sale and from the usual car dealers?

No warranty.

Anything wrong with the car good luck.

Used car dealer warranty is questionable but there is.

Consignment sale might be because all the usual car dealers saw the car and runaway.

No one dare to make an offer even a super low-ball offer because it's a problem car.

There again it might be a wonderful owner selling a wonderful car and want to sell the car at a low price just to know it goes to a good home.

No need to buy insurance before buying the car.

In case the sale doesn't go through.

Bank loan rejected etc.

But thanks, good point on having someone to test out the seatings as well, that didn't cross my mind.

That someone must be your other half. Cannot be anyone else. No point you feel shiok driving but got to entertain "realtime news feed" everyday. Unless of cos you are already at a level where you suddenly become tone deaf when the "realtime news feed" starts to air.

Oh and based on what you mentioned, is it safe to say that all consignment cars' mileage are genuine?

Not necessary. Still need to do due diligence.

Maybe it's his MIL "realtime news feed" everyday and his other half is the never complain type?

Consignment just means car at agent but the car is still owned by the owner.

When the car is sold the agent gives the money to the owner minus his cut.

Doesn't say anything about car is good or bad, mileage is clocked or like jamesc used cars not clocked.

Offer $100 to send to AA.

See what they say.

Hi guys, I'm planning to view a car from one of the companies in Ubi area. I noted that they allow inspection at VICOM or STA or 3rd-party workshop before purchase. I've researched online and noted AA is still superior in terms of evaluation but unfortunately distance is an issue and their company claim to be unable to send to AA for inspection.

Between VICOM and STA I also read that VICOM is better? Would like some input from the more experienced driver here on this. Otherwise, are there any other 3rd party reliable workshop near Ubi that anyone can recommend? Appreciate it if someone could provide details on such workshops.

Thank you!
