true.just look at the number of minority staff working in stat boards like hdbee or ICA..etc can already.

can ANYone say the same in msia????

I beg to differ. First let me say for the record that I am not Malay though growing up, at certain times, I have mixed with different groups of friends: Chinese, Malay, Indian. My saddest memory, was with my group of local Malay friends where one of them who was senior to me by 7 years gave me a word of advise, "why should you continue to study? It's not like you will be able to get a job after that?" This reflected the defeated mentality of Malays of that generation.

Now coming back to what you said. Do you think that if the minority staff could get a job outside they would want to work for ica? being stuck in a cubicle not being able to run away from poisonous exhaust fumes for many hours a day? This is also true for my brother in law who is Malay and an NTU grad. Upon graduation, he spent a year looking for a job that had some relation to his degree without success. In the end, he became a teacher.

Now about Malaysia. I have come across Chinese immigration officers which I find rather odd coz, why would he want to work for the Malaysian government when we all know that they don't pay much as compared to him working outside.

Please take a moment to ponder before making such statements in the future.

Peace!

Tuan, hope to meet you at Woodlands or Tuas one day and pay you a firm solid salute, respect your endurance.

A week ago, I heard from a civil servant friend that East Malaysia Governor (chinese nick by white hair) is now under investigation by a Chinese Lady Anti-Corruption Officer, her evidences of this rotten governor are fully compiled for further prosecution soon, I think they're aware the minority race is competence and efficient to carry out great task. I do see good promotion in near future in your positive attitude. [thumbsup]

Sir, thank you for your kind words but, I do feel that it might be getting a bit late for me as I am fast approaching 40.

However, I always have a dream that from one generation to the next, perceptions will change and those who come after me will have it better than me or, those who have come before me. Even if I know that true equality can never exist.

thanks. i understand where you come from now.

i think otherwise. imo, a large number of opposition do not advocate the abolishment of national service.

The PAP gave us many things. But to suggest that the opposition cannot do better, and would be foolish enough to tear apart the security blanket we sleep under, is not something i readily agree on. The odds of that happening, is probably as good as the PAP themselves doing the same, as they move towards populist measures.

actually large number or small number does not matter, even which party also not important

as long as whoever is the govt does not abolish national service can liao

you are right... when invading force comes in, i would say almost half of the population will scramble to leave this red dot (especially the FT and the rich), hence leaving the middle and poor classes to fight it on....the will to fight is already diminished with the sight of ppl packing up....how to win a war?

so This current govt still want to pump in more FT till 6.9M I would say they are just preparing for a big one.. that is failure... and when the natives are fed up and decided this is not their home any longer.... So who should fight? perhaps FT fighting unit like blackwater ba.. anyway they are rich.

how many children you have? how big is your family?

if really pump FT till 6.9M,with locals decreasing in number,IF war really comes, most of the FT will leave.dont they think that why FT would bother to defend a land which is not theirs?in the end,the supposed FT numbers which are expected to defend s'pore will all disappear and our land can be defeated.haiz..so sad.. [:(]

If war really breaks out here, I personally would prefer those who don't want to fight to leave. No point staying to stretch our resource to protect or rescue. Leave the fighting to those who love the country.

But what makes you think the Gov want the FT to stay defend SGP in the first place?? And I don't see why the number of FTs in SGP have impact on the capability of SAF to defend SGP.

Actually if you look deeper into the FTs in SGP. They could be part of the strategy to maintain stability and acting as a deterent to avoid war.

It won't do neighbouring countries any good if they start shelling SPG and there are reports of casualties from India, China or even the USA. This will cause serious international backlash for the invading country.

Tuan, Selamat Pagi,

Salam

I'm anak singapura too, I did had many opportunities having good discussion with SG/MY civil servants about meritocracy and improvements, most agreed it is very fair to those who are competence receiving encouragement, promotion and awards, but they're aware of the system already infested with bias channels in about half a century, which is difficult to expecting for a quick change.

Understands all these sensitivities and constraints, I would like to share the root cause with regard Integrity of an individual or the employer to manage healthy progressionism within a family or a company, if these core values are not in place ? Dissidence and Dissseverance would be taking place !

Quitting to search for another chance or prospect is rather sensible than to toe the line dragging into miserly. Some of these senior ranking CS told me that many of their ex-subordinates are doing extremely well in the private sector, I followed to ask them is this a miracle or a surprise ? I'm glad to heard them answered with...." It Is Natural " [:)]

Riding a cow to look for a horse is wise strategy for a long journey ahead, a punctual person would never believe with the word "late" [nod]

Warmest Regards,

fongmy
