I have a 2HP 20L tank air compressor at home, also have a portable air compressor that runs on 12Vdc

my favourite is still the trusty bicycle pump

lightweight, silent, easy to carry

if you only use it to top up the tires, it doesn't need many strokes

inflating FLAT tire with bicycle pump is an entirely different story

Has anyone tried this?  Does it work like what it shows in the video (pumping up the SUV tires rather effortlessly)?

It shows that it can inflate a mid-size tire from 0 to 30psi in 5 minutes. The flow rate is 25L/min.

Not too sure if it is noisy or whether it would heat up easily during operation.

Yes, it's fairly noisy but at least it does pump air into the tyres quickly. The digital meter is quite accurate.

It will definitely heat up after prolonged usage. It's advised to allow the motor to cool down if you need to use it continuously.

I want to buy this next, since I have an air compressor at home

fill up the portable tank at home with air compressor

bring it to the car park to fill the tires quickly, quietly and effortlessly  😎

I occasionally pump my car tyres only when the pump is free up.

Not sure my road bike pump have sufficient volume to pump the car tyres or not.

I know air pressure wise no issue, road bikes tyre pressure is 100 psi 😅

Can be done even from completely flat using those big standing type with pressure gauge.  I tried before but it was super tiring!  Maybe 300 strokes.

Or more.

@Atonchia

mine is an el cheapo one bought from neighbourhood hardware shop more than 20 years ago that look like this

it has the volume but may not have the pressure for those skinny modern road bike tires

edit: I just checked the gauge, max is 7Bar 100psi

It's normal. New tires are soft hence air pressure isn't consistent. Once the tires harden over time the air pressure will become stable.

Hi all, can I find out if this is indeed a thing?

I bought a set of brand new rims and tyres just 3 weeks back. All 4 tyres pump to 35 psi ... after 3-4 days bring to pump again, it will be at 32 or 31 psi when the starts. Yes, all 4 tyres have exactly the same issue.

Cannot be all 4 tyres got problem?

Pump when tyres are cold in the morning to specs. Go to the nearest station (eg within 5 km) amd then monitor again. The drop seems too big for normal loss of air.

actually its "good" that all 4 tyres are the same - that means that there is no puncture in one of the tyres .. its more likely a condition that is the same for all tyres e.g temperatures ..

the difference in pressure can be due to different temperatures when you pumped - when the tyres are hot when you pump 35psi they can read for example 32psi or something like that the next morning when the tyres are cold .. conversely if you pump 35psi when the tyres are cold the reading could be for example 38psi or something when you have driven for a long distance ..

i wont lose sleep over it, if you like you can just pump it up higher to say 36 or 37 ..

Sometime after Bead In,the Tyres lose some Air after 3-4 Days,Monitor it,if 3-4 Days still the same, then something is wrong.

The air compressor is powered by the car battery through the cigarette socket.  Does it draw a lot of current?  Do you usually turn on the engine while using this compressor (or similar type) to pump air?

draws some but 1 tire from empty to full is ok. anyway when you top up its just that little bit.

i use this one and fill from flat to full to drive to a tire shop to fix.  Mine was the clip on to the battery terminal type. and i think a bit smaller. but it did the task easily.

Thank you for sharing.

I just checked with the supplier of this compressor.

It operates on 12V and can be drawing up to a max of 10A during operation, so it is advisable to keep the engine running.

cordless depends on battery. these days the built in batteries CMI. device will die just when you need it. better to use 12V on the car. for sure the battery is healthy most of the time.

I got the Baseus and Xiaomi Mijia one. Quite good leh. I topped up my tyres a few times, battery still full. Better than using petrol station ones, don't know the guy using it before got COVID or not. Wait infected by touching the buttons and inflator.

From 0 to 220kpa, yes better to use 12V socket. But my father attrage doesn't even have 12V socket...haha.
