Those MPs serve total defence one also don't get it mah, whats the hooha about?

Anyway, these discounts are meant to sweeten the public and give a little recognition in a nice way.

Don't think the MPs will be hard-up for these little treats, they elites and atas class liao.

Poor thing those MPs.. Still, never too late, can always let them enjoy the bonding we had through NS, let them serve in there as storeman or clerk, since they so old already... [laugh]

Are they 40 or 50 yet?

If not they can still serve. Afaik, one can continue to volunteer their National Service beyond 40 years old after they ROD. Just like some NSFs extended their services after their ORD date.

It's just whether these MPs are keen or not. There's always a way.

Reservists and NSFs are defending and protecting the assets of major corporations.

SMRT and SBS should take lead by offering these NSF and reservists free rides. In times of war or civil unrest, these organisations still must depend on MHA or Mindef to protect their assets, in turn relying on soldiers or policemen.

Don't know. If too old, give them serve special, as medic or those non combat vocations lor. It's just a bonding experience, right? But even if special allowances were made for them to serve, also don't think they will volunteer. Why lose his 15k a month job for a 600 a month salary?

Actually, ya lor! NSF especially, should get free rides, maybe two train rides a day or something, just to cover their travels to and from camp.

Yes, one of the big problems that the MIW have is "foot in mouth" syndrome.

Even the old grand patriarch has this problem to some extent. But he can (mostly) get away with it because most people (rightly) fear him and won't dare to ridicule him too much. The younger generation thinks it enjoys a similar degree of immunity, but it's sadly mistaken.

. . . -_-

That one a little harder to implement, especially most adults using normal cards. Though that would really be nice.
