Too good to be true? This S60 is selling at practically cost - $94,998.

In March 2024, renewed 10 yr COE $78K + PARF forgone $16K = $94K. Haven't taken body value in consideration.

PARF is 11k, not 16k, body value probably very low if not zero.

I test drove the D2 before, quite sluggish compared to 216d even though both are diesel.

$100? Almost no one in the region wants. The African nations that typically buys our scrap car also don’t want. Yes parts got some value but then you can’t store that many too. In the end the iron value is still better value. 🤣

even old Mercedes these days hardly any value liao, especially those bread and butter ones.
one indication is look at propel new arrivals. How many get dismantle and how many get sold as a compete unit. Will give you a rough idea.

Dunno who is the dumbo who thinks he is smarter to renew this shit. Sure lose money. 🤣

there is a reason why you don’t see many old Volvos renewed. Safest bet to renew now are Japanese Mpv. The likes of toyota and Honda. Can easily sell off.

I once saw a Volvo 740 GLE at Volvo agent workshop, before Wearnes took over. Waiting for spare parts to be shipped in.

Renewing Volvo COE can't be worse than renewing COE of those Italian and French makes.  😅

"Waiting for spare parts to be shipped in"....Only AD needs to wait for long long time. Just get a model that is also available in China and get your parts from TB etc. Even ship by air also cheaper and faster.

Ya you are right. Unless one has many cars and can afford to wait around for parts just follow the crowd and not be too special for bread and butter cars. They main aim is to provide transport and not sit in workshop.
have been there and done that. Surprised that many with only one car still hanker to be rare and unique. Well put up with unavailability or pump in $$ when it arises then. To me totally pointless for a B&B, but then not my money.

Car is often a want not a need...many can afford to leave car at home or workshop waiting for parts to cum...take motorbike, train, bus or pmd for work or errand/errant run...😁

with Grab so readiliy avalable and ease of use, we starting to be reliant of the gig economy worker more and more.

Subsequently, when 5G is more prevalent, self driving Grab will be the next big thing

At least not for me, even i am driving  old car, i would want my car to be at home just in case when i feel like driving it or need it, leaving it in a workshop is never an acceptable experience of ownership, at least not for me 🤣

Generally the 2nd gen S60 has no body value or used car demand that's why its cheap.

I'm not too sure if this is using the 6-speed Getrag Powershift or 6-speed Aisin though. If it's the latter, it should be better for reliability. D2 engine itself is see heng sway on reliability. It is not a highly stressed out engine when stock, which may help in long term reliability. 112hp from a 1.5T turbodiesel 4-pot is weak 🤣

The power shift has many problems. Both D2 and T2 uses it. Only T4/5 uses the aisin box I think.

It's a Peugeot 8v engine found on Partners and Grand Picasso's.

I would prefer the t5 nevertheless.

Most T4/T5 with powershift should be on their last legs or scrapped unless if you buy a COE car?

Anything past 2015 (i.e 2016 and up) shouldnt have powershift.
