I think 1881 should be OK if its a non-Public Holiday weekday.

Nowadays I avoid TST and Causeway Bay. Prefer more "local" places.

Take this opportunity to take a ferry to Macau since u are already in HKG.

Good call.

Walking on Macau cobbled streets just like being in Europe.

Eat Portugese Cod fish, egg tarts, almond cookies.

Pork chop buns,

Hotel already booked. Didnt find a suitable airbnb before booking.

But if taking taxi, then we will hv to split n take 2 taxis. Will increase the cost.

Im not aiming for any shopping. Plan of going shopping ctrs is only to look see look see. Many recommended to go the night markets where it is the so called shopping haven. But me n wife hv decided we not interested in the shopping.

For sightseeing, where else do u recommend?

Take the kids swimming.

i need some tips n advice. going hongkong on 19-26dec.

Hong Kong is one of my favourite places, been there so many times can't even count

here is some advice to your questions:

1) Dont bother with the airport express+train for 4 adults+2 kids

a. its an annual holiday, go and relax not stress yourself

b. for big group it is CHEAPER to book an Alphard. Alphard from airport to HK is about HKD$400 . Airport express is $110x4 + $55x2 = $550

1b) Do buy the Octopus card - everyone travels by the MTR everywhere. It is the best. Use taxis for certain times if lazy.

2) weather in Dec is lovely but depends on your luck, with global warming. The average is 18 degrees to 21 degrees. This is like cold aircon. All you need is a sweater or windbreaker at times

but one year i was there, it dropped to 10 degrees. That is cold. you need a thicker jacket. My friend experienced a cold front from Guangzhou, it was 4 degrees - he went uniglo to buy down jackets

3) For Sight Seeing, Places for 1st timers to go

Disneyland is nice for young kids, and with Shanghai opened, it is less crowded now. But has always been manageable

Ocean Park is the portal to Hell. The China tour groups ALL end up there. And it is a nightmare. But i am sure you will still go. Enjoy the cable car ride though, it is nice

The Peak - the tram ride queue suck balls, but it is quite unique and the view at night is lovely - dont be a cock and go in the day

Harbour ferry ride - really old time experience

Space museum - kids enjoy this quite alot

4) Hong Kong is about Shopping and Eating, about shopping

Ladies Market - go there for the experience, but they sell junk

The surrounding streets is much better for real shopping. Adjacent to it are many sports shops - they call it bo hai gai - "sports shoe road"

explore the Mong kok area around there, lots of nice stuff

Harbour city - the best one stop place to buy any brand you can want

Pacific place - higher end brands galore, less congested.

City Gate Outlet Mall

*must go in Dec - Landmark shopping mall - the lobby always has beautiful Christmas decorations. Once was singing robot bears. See it yourself to know what I mean

5) Food, Food, Food - if you dont like to eat, dont bother to go HK. Some suggestions

Dim Sum at Ritz Carlton ICC - it is 100 over stories high at the top, you can feel the building swaying. Got Michelin star but food very average.

Any Cha Chan Teng - eat the beef brisket noodles and oyster Kai Lan or Chye Sim

Hui Lau Shan - all over the place, go for the Snow Frog skin dessert , add Birds Nest

Yee Shun Milk Company - have the milk pudding dessert

Cafe De Coral - it is like a Crystal Jade kitchen but cheaper , you will see it everywhere. Great for quick meals

anyway lots of other food in HK, if i continue will not end

but this is a good start for newbies to HK

ocean park will b on wed n disney on thur. so likely the peak on fri. thats it. so far only these 3 tourist attractions. sat n sun reserve for shopping centres.

the express u referring to is for disney right?

u stayed at dorsett wanchai b4? so the MTR u saying is causeway bay stn, right? cos few reviews i read ppl were saying it is far from wanchai stn, then the hotel mgmt pointed out that they should hv gone to causeway bay stn instead.

disney express, even the tram to the peak also express

i nvr go disney and ocean park before even though past 6 yrs go hk every qtr for work :)

I recommend Lantau Island & Cheng Chou.  Both also need to walk quite a fair bit.

real sight seeing :)

I would suggest 大屿山 and 大澳 but not sure if that is your family's cup of tea.

yeah, in Dec gd temp to climb :)

If 6 ppl better rent an alphard. Less hassle, comfy and straight to hotel. Yes ard hkd400. Dont book via airport it cost more ard 600-800hkd. Find google.

For hotel i prefer TST area. For first timer, walk at avenue of star as christmas view is diff with cold weather and decorative buildings, is a must for me following 1881 and then take a ferry cross harbour.

Go to the peak only if weather good and no fog. When visiting ocean park or disneyland or avenue of stars, wear better clothing as temperature can be very cold and the wind very harsh. Buy heat pack for ur kids

Some attractions for first timers are like tung chung island cable car, disneyland, ocean park, madam tussaud, mid level and ladies street.

We used to live in Tai Mong Tsai Rd north of Sai Kung.

Sai Kung has a lot of sea food restaurants, some very good some not so.

But we sometimes went to the New Beach Resort Hotel about 5 minutes drive north of Sai Kung itself and they would do some great food including BBQ suckling pig and you could buy as much of the roasted suckling pig as you wanted from enough for two people or to all of it.  If you bought it all the guy would immediately start roasting another.  Take maybe 20 minutes.  Great to see it cooking in front of you.
