at the end of the day..money they get from all these tax..end up where???

the road still so terrible..uneven..sink hole here and there..housing still expensive..public transport still expensive..when the haze happen..no single $ been used to allocate for company to compensate them if they close their office due to health risk, like construction work..N95 never give it free to all the Singaporean..instead distribute to hospital/clinic and sell back to us.. utility bill will not have any subsidize during this haze time frame...

So why we should allow them to tax us as if they are solving the problem but in actual fact is the $ they more interested

dun u know taxi owners (those with ppl sharing cost) will park at a common carpark (usually both of them stay within the vicinity so convenient for both) then pass on to another taxi driver to take over shift?

 

how u want Taxi companies to centralise parking? at one common place? that means those taking over shift must take transport to this centralised parking place to take over the taxi?

 

u think public bus ah? Taxi company only loans out the car and provides servicing at authorised WS and discounted petrol top up at designated place. Anything else, they dun care one.

if 2 drivers are sharing the taxi they no need permenent parking lot they can just put coupon for the time it is parked in the parking lot we are talking about permemnet parking lots .

LOL here we go again.....never ending debate

 

as for population reduction, be prepare for reduction in everything...we all know consumers are king...6 mil consumer is better than 3 million consumer (the 3 million kiasu one some more)..our salaries, bonuses and even jobs are dependent on consumers. Our companies are directly or indirectly dependent on consumers. This is the ugly truth and Singapore is surviving only because it keeps letting consumers in. A Ponzi Scheme of sorts..and will burst when they cannot take in anymore...realistically we should be closer to Malaysia on everything, cost and salaries. Only difference is they have more freedom and MNCs hates political freedom. They prefer stable regime.

 

House price will never drop cause more singaporeans prefer it to be high (buyers wants low and sellers/"investors" wants high and there are more seller/"investors"). They prefer cheaper BTO so they can sell their house at high price and move in with their kids whom got their BTO are low low price.....

 

Car COE and ERP is linked. COE is already limited so its how best to distribute. Better idea is higher COE for foreigners and lower for Singaporeans (subsidized by foriegners and PRs). PR pay middle. At the end the cost will not differ much cause majority buyers are Singaporeans and many are cash rich these days. Even if its $0, the demand is too great....imagine 100k ppl put in their name for only 1000 COE per month. you have 1% chance to get a COE!!!! maybe your whole life cannot own a new car, even if you have $$ in the bank. The $$ lost must be recovered by ERP, which can be done easily but ppl complain so much when ERP increase 50 cents so no choice, must continue the high COE.

 

 

other ideas also got problem

rich man = can afford a few houses (each house under each kid's name) = can get a few cars (if limit 1 per household)

middle income man = whole family stay one house = can only get 1 car..rich man win

 

IMO the best solution is higher ERP and carparks at city area. It will reduce the congestion and increase the patronage of the outskirt areas. It can also offset the reduction in $$ collection from lower COE. Those that work in the city will have to be paid allowance of course but if you can afford to drive into the city, i dont see why extra few hundred $$ a month is a problem. Is its fair?? no. BUT is fairer for the whole of singapore.
