Wonder how many of such jobs so created are actually benefitting Singaporean employees.  How often we come across Singaporean auto mechanics, gas pump attendants, gas pump cashiers, dish washers, air-con technicians, thrash collector etc etc?

Wish we can have less foreigners amongst us, then every Singaporean can have a wee bit more space in our tiny country.

More DIYs, less jobs, more demand for cheap labour.

The other side of the argument is that if people can do more DIY and higher productivity - we need less foreign labour. This is what I observe in Australia/Japan.

Of course to each his own. Many want to spend $$ to outsource dirty work - fair and square since it is their own money.

If the person's pay is lower that the charged labour rate for the job, then there is higher productivity.

Same as above.  More DIYs, less jobs, more demand for cheap labour.

We have become a pampered nation, brought up with mummies & maids always at our becks & calls; where self-service takes too much effort.

We want so much cheap labor that we are helping in the exploitation of cross border human labor/trafficking

The writer every month change kotek when her period cums. It's easier for her to keep track. When period cums means change engine oil. [laugh]

Or maybe it's a he who think his car is a female every month it ovulates. Change filter or kotek and bleed out the engine oil.
