I went to a air con work shop at circuit road and was quoted $1200 to replace both the cooling coil and condenser. It is my first time repairing aircon and I was shocked by the price quoted. May I know if this is the industry market place or am I overly paying over the odds? My drive is a Peugeot 308. Look forward to more inputs and sharing of the repair cost by fellow bros. Indeed it was really expensive as I read other threads coiling coil cost about $450-$600 only but I had mine done up at $1200 for both cooling coil and condenser. The cooling coil is original but the condenser is OEM. I was thinking whether I got slash by the workshop at circuit road. AF i'm sure is going to cost me a bomb and I don't dare to imagine. I guess that what I am paying should be thereabouts and a reflection of market price in that case as indeed the cooling coil requires the removal of the entire dashboard in order to access, thus may incur higher labour cost. Certain cars may have to remove their whole dashboard and steering column. Hence labour cost will play a part in the final price. I think most cars need to remove the whole dashboard and steering column to change the parts. It is really not a simple job to change the cooling coil. And i think different workshop charge different amount of labour cost. i have been hanging around my mech's plc often and seen various cars changing cooling coils, some just need to remove dashboard to access, some like the colt needs to remove steering column as there is a brace bar that is blocking the access and u can't remove it without taking out the steering column. TVT Supercharged June 23, 2013 Share June 23, 2013 Usually when aircon is not cold or gas leak often it should be the cooling coil spoil. Seldom hear the condenser will spoil. I suggest you get some other quotes and 2nd opinion to see if your first quote was correct. Go to a aircon specialist workshop like Markcool to get a 2nd opinion. And not all cars, when replacing the cooling coil, needs to remove its dashboard and steering column. Some need not and can replaced in half a day's time. Note that aircon oil (not gas) is crucial to lifespan of these components too. This is often overlook n owners just wait until component spoil before reacting..
