Setting up a fax at home

Can i just plug into the normal singtel phone port and use fax immediately, or must i call singtel to activate a special service

 

asking coz since im getting an AIO printer, i might as well make use of the features

Can use any fix phone line as FAX...no need special activation.... but if you want to connect it all the time..is better to have a spare phone line for that to receive FAX...unless people call all the time before they FAX you...but frankly...who in this digital world still use FAX?...just scan and email lah

He wants to fully utilise the AIO machine lah. If the machine comes with telex function, that'll be better.

There is no need to call to activate. When want to use just plug in to normal telephone line and ready to go, once done just unplugged. If you want 24-7 than see whether your house still got use house tel? If yes, maybe it will be better to get another line just for the fax itself.

i thot fax machine can detect whether is this a incoming fax or a phone?

If they detect it is a incoming fax, automatically it will turn to fax.

Or you can preset something like ring 5-6 times, no one pick-up, it will turn to fax.

 

Sorry, long time dont use actual type of fax machine.......all along using Virtual fax machine which convert directly to my email.

Yes, u can directly plug into the phone port and use as fax. Thatz what I do with my AIO also. My AIO can set to 3 or 5 rings and it is activated as fax. Good for those annoying callers u trying to avoid. They will think this is a fax line and never call again.

 

But if u wish to fax overseas, u will need to call Singtel to activate their fax overseas code.

 

 

Ya, in this age very few ppl use fax anymore. But mindef still do!!! Send me letter to tell me to indicate my shirt n pants measurement for the new uniform and fax letter back to them. So that I can collect my new uniform of correct measurement on the 1st day of my reservist.

I use my fax to dial (mobile lines) those who sms spam me with their properties sale. It will dial whole day.

But of coz my fax line is private line.

Ya. There is an auto re-dial function on the AIO in case the other line is busy. U can set the number of times and intervals.

 

But mine will always print a page at the end of the dial, whether fail or fax completed. So not economical for me. Unless I remove all the paper from the AIO.

i still have a old laptop with built-in modem, i install the program called "winfax".

just plug in the phone line (private line) into the laptop, and you can start calling (faxing) all those idiots......

Thats something I don't want.

Still can get telex??? strange .... its primitive already and this function you must get an address from Singtel

my phone line for singtel is only for my MIO TV. i have another separate home phone number. lol
